This is just a general inquiry, not a jeep thing. How do I connect a battery charger to my battery? I know that sounds like such an easy question, but up until 2yrs ago, I didn't have to worry about these things, so I don't know. My charger says it is for 6 and 12 volt batteries. How do I know what mine is? Also, the charger has a 6V/6 amp, 12V/2 amp, and 12V/6 amp setting. Which one do I set it on. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanx in advance. :)

Use the 12 volt, 6 amp setting. Remove it when the battery is fully charged.

And unless you know for sure that charger cuts back to a trickle charge when the battery is charged don't leave it connected for an extended time. I mean like don't hook it up and go away for a week. You'll boil the battery.
If you can't get going after a 12 hour charge you probably need a new battery.

Most chargers have a ammeter. When the current flow gets to 0 the battery is fully charged. Most chargers automatically shut off. Slow charge (2 amps) takes longer than a fast charge (6 amps).
