Escort Revving like mad when clutch is dippeddannydanny 08-03-2007, 01:35 AM I have a 1998 Escort 1.8 Zetec. When I dip the clutch the revs go up like crazy, especially in 1st gear or when stood at lights. Any ideas would be appreciated! dannydanny 08-03-2007, 01:48 AM Apparntly, the AIC valve is a likely candidate. Where abouts would I find this on the car to clean it? mightymoose_22 08-03-2007, 02:09 AM I would certainly suspect the IAC valve. I am not certain about the 98 model, but the IAC should be located where the large air intake hose connects to the intake manifold... usually about the size of a couple D cell batteries. dannydanny 08-11-2007, 05:17 PM Can someone please show me where the thing is as I can't find it :( http://www.wednesday.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/024.jpg mightymoose_22 08-11-2007, 05:52 PM Follow that large black tube toward the back side... look for the IAC which looks like this picture: http://www1.autozone.com/images/cds/jpg/small/0900823d8004b2f7.jpg You will also be able to find it by following your throttle cable. dannydanny 08-11-2007, 05:58 PM Hi thanks for that, I have seen a pic of the aic before but there is nothing that seems to look like it. 12Ounce 08-12-2007, 08:50 AM Follow the throttle cable to the throttle body ... now look on the opposite side (away from the cable hook-up) ... that's the throttle-position-sensor. Now go back a half-circle ... don't know which way, but probably away from the engine block ... you should find the IAC valve. May have a plastic cover. May not have a vacuum hook-up ... depends on application. Will have an electric connection. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
