95 Accord EX 4 cyl Auto

1) Behind the bezel of the switch there is a small rectangualr switch This switch is a small circuit and surrounds the tumbler. On one en is a 2 wire pigtail on the other is a 6 wire pigtail. The 2 wire tail plugs into a rectangular switch mounted to the underside of the switch below the tumble.
a) What is this?
b) What does it do?
c) Do I need it?
I'm assuming that it has something to do with the trans because the manual trans doesnt have this switch. Just a guess though.

2) The 2 screws that hold the switch to the column seem to be flat or filled in with solder or lead. How do I get these screws out if I need to replace the entire lock assembly?

Thanks.

This might be a solenoid that prevents the key from turning to lock when the shift lever is not in park. Do you need it? Only if you want to remove the ignition key.

Drill it out. On ignition switch stuff, they use break-away screws.
