I owned a venture - You look you will see my posts.

I am now in the market for another rig. I had a 2006 Vue my wife totaled out. I am haunted by my love for my old Venture (Ya I know, I am sick). Was there any year that they did it right? No gasket problems etc!

Probably the last 2 years of production (2004,& 2005) shouldbe free of the intake gasket problems that preceded the earlier model years. The prices should be fairly good as they are 3 years old and some may be coming off lease or the owners may be deciding to trade it in for a newer model. It seems (to me at least) that GM finally gets all or most of the bugs out of a vehicle and everything seems right, then they go and discontinue it . Another vehicle to consider would be the Uplander which came out in 2005 alongside the Venture, eventually replacing it. I own a 2006 and am very happy with it. They made a bunch of improvements over the Venture, a 3.5 L engine, 17" tires ( makes it feel like your driving in an SUV ,and a rear DVD player, (kids love that,)to name a few. And there is a lot more room in the engine bay to work on the engine(if need be) or do simple maintenance ,(like check brake fluid, or power steering fluid, and change plugs, something that was very difficult on the Venture.)

That's Uplander. I bought mine last Fall with 8600 miles on it for $16,590. Funny thing is I paid $19995 for my 1997 Venture back in 1998 with 16,250 miles on it. That's almost double the mileage for $3400 more than the Uplander.

My parents just replaced their 2001 Venture with a brandnew Uplander for $21,000 CAN
