Fuel Filter change on '03 GC 3.3L flexOSUCowboy27 07-31-2007, 02:26 PM I have the funky filter from AZ. It cost $25 but once was $45. My question is are there any special tools needed for the 3 connections? Is this pretty easy/quick? I have not yet looked at it. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks Bear 07-31-2007, 07:19 PM If yours is the multi legged beast that sits atop the fuel tank you need some ramps or jack stands to get her in the air, a socket to remove the hold down bolt that attaches the filter to a cross member, and some needle nose pliers to push the retaining clips on the fuel filter lines inward to slip the lines off. Oh flexibility helps, I did my '96 30,000 miles ago and I did not have to drop the fuel tank (though that might have made it a bit easier). OSUCowboy27 08-06-2007, 10:57 AM Well, I changed it this weekend and it wasn't that bad. I had to run the front up on ramps and jack the back up and put the back tires on ramps. I then removed the 15mm bolt just below the filter that holds the tank and loosened the other bolt a bit. Took out the 10mm bolt that secures the filter. Loosened the fittings with needle nose pliers but left them connected. Got the ne filter ready and then pulled off the old filter connections one at a time while connecting the new filter. Pretty easy once I got it figured out and it only took about an hour. triplethreattt 08-07-2007, 06:51 PM Just did this myself on my 98 Gr. Voyager...had a 1/2 tank of gas in it, and my buddy who was helping me broke one of the connecting lines coming off of the fuel pump, so we wound up having to replace the pump as well. It wasn't fun dropping the gas tank and replacing that pump, but after seeing that strainer on the pump at 98K mi, I'm glad I changed it out. It's been running REALLY well since. Let me just say that putting the filter on top of the tank was a pretty dumb design. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
