That can destroy a wheel bearing. Hand tools only! joetikk 08-01-2007, 12:49 AM yes i used hand tools and didnt torque them hard i used only little torque on axle nut is it possible the axle is defective or control arm bent RickMN 08-01-2007, 12:58 PM Well, that may be part of your problem. The factory spec on torque for the axle nut is 170-203 ft/lbs. That's a LOT of torque. My only caution was not to use impact tools. If the axel isn't properly torqued to the hub, you will get a lot of noise. You need a pretty big torque wrench to reach up that far--one with a long handle for leverage. joetikk 08-01-2007, 01:01 PM i appreciate all the help i have done plenty of hubs on taurus,s this one car has me bogglede in three weeks the hub snaps i dont know were to go from here i dont know were to go from here besides replace hub again then axle is this right choice vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
