VIP Style - Blow Design GRS182 CrownAndy Jones 07-29-2007, 10:38 AM Another kit from Aoshima's Super VIP Car series. Looking at reference pics it appears that black, silver or white seem to be the pre-dominant colours for the VIP style so I went with black. The body was sprayed with Halfords matt black auto paint and then Zero pre-thinned clear. To add to the sinister feel I sprayed the Aoshima Equips centres black. http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/grs.jpg http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/grs1.jpg http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/grs2.jpg Thanks for looking Andy ketje 07-29-2007, 12:38 PM great start. These are nice looking models. jmwallac 08-11-2007, 03:33 AM What technique do you use to keep the chrome lip? Do you mask it off or remove the paint to reveal the chrome afterward? The black on black looks nice. What about tinted windows to complete the black out? Andy Jones 08-11-2007, 07:19 AM What technique do you use to keep the chrome lip? Luckily the rims were two piece with a chrome lip so it was just a case of spraying the centres gloss black. Thanks Andy Andy Jones 09-02-2007, 08:16 AM Just some pics of the completed interior : http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/grs5.jpg http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/grs6.jpg http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/grs7.jpg Thanks for looking Andy jmwallac 09-02-2007, 01:39 PM Interior looks good. What technique do you use for the 2 color interior? Which color is sparyed first? How do you mask off those small areas and paint them? janositamas 09-02-2007, 01:57 PM Your build is beautiful, I like your Crown! Does it have the quality like other Aoshima kits have? I might get one someday for myself to make it a "normal", not VIP version! It looks hot in black anyway! The interior is just perfect, no more to be said! :grinyes: How did you do the black-chrome front grille? Did you mask it somehow? It can be kinda tricky, I removed the chrome from the pre-chromed parts and ruined everything in the past... Andy Jones 09-02-2007, 03:07 PM Interior looks good. What technique do you use for the 2 color interior? Which color is sparyed first? How do you mask off those small areas and paint them? Thanks I airbrushed the blue areas first with Humbrol enamel, masked with Tamiya tape and then sprayed the matt black. I've not come across any problems with the kit so far - in my experience the newer Aoshima releases are close to Tamiya in quality (and to me their subject matter is more interesting than Tamiya's). As regards the grille I painted the recessed areas with thinned black enamel - you can remove any excess with a cloth. Regards Andy white97ex 09-02-2007, 08:35 PM very nice Andy sportracer02 09-03-2007, 01:08 AM Hi Andy, good idea with the blue areas, it is different to those wooden trim you ususally see there. energon 09-03-2007, 02:04 AM This is looking great Andy! I'm really starting to like VIPs. They aren't supper blingy, but nice and tastefull. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
