Interior Lights

I just bought a 97 GTP yesterday (loving it so far) and I was wondering if there was a way to make the lights on the inside of the car stay off when you open the door or to make them go out faster or something. I think I've pushed just about every button in the car so I doubt there is a way to do it but just incase I missed something I thought I would come here :p

The interior courtesy lights are controlled by the body control module (BCM) via internal programming to include the gradual dimming/fade out function. There is no user control to over-ride that I know of. Now, if you are sitting in the car with the doors closed and want the courtesy lamps off sooner you can take the ignition switch to the RUN position but that won't solve your issue.

my chevy pickup has a "dome override" switch. would it be possible to wire in a switch on a grand prix to work in the same way?

I don't see why not. A switch could be wired up at the body control module (BCM) output wire at the electrical connector that provides the return/ground to the lamps.

In the owners manual it gives you instructions on how to reset the time of the interior lights etc....
