Decent exhaust on a budget?ShinyNewPenny 07-26-2007, 07:10 PM Would it be possible to get a decent catback exhaust system for around $300 or less? I'm looking for something that's deep and not too loud. I don't want a lawnmower sounding exhaust. '93 Si if that matters. On a side note, how can I raise my steering wheel w/o the little lever. There is an empty spot on the lower left side of my steering wheel that looks like a lever should be in it and I can't figure out how to raise it up so I can actually see the top of the speedo. CivicSpoon 07-26-2007, 09:02 PM Highly unlikely that you'll find an exhaust for that cheap that won't sound like ass. And there's nothing you can really do with the hight adjustment unless you swap out the steering column for one that adjusts. Greenblurr93 07-27-2007, 10:40 AM was it adjustable and the lever broke? take the trim off and adjust it that way... as far as an exhaust goes.... buy a muffler and a long resonator (cherry bomb) bring it to a muffler shop and have them weld it up with a new pipe... shouldnt run you more than 300... the muffler will give you the flow while the resonator will deepen the tone ShinyNewPenny 07-28-2007, 02:43 AM I was searching around and I came across this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/APEXI-WS2-CATBACK-EXHAUST-92-95-HONDA-CIVIC-HATCHBACK_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33630QQihZ010 QQitemZ200131308492QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW). Seems pretty good from what I have seen/heard of it. Has anyone heard anything bad about the Apexi WS2? I was drooling over a Mugen Twin Loop until I saw the prices. :frown: CivicSpoon 07-28-2007, 12:42 PM If it's a legit WS2 (and not a knock-off) then it's a good exhaust. It's pretty quite with a nice low tone at higher rpms. ShinyNewPenny 07-30-2007, 06:08 PM I was looking at a Pacesetter (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pacesetter-Exhaust-92-93-Honda-Civic-Si-Hatch_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33630QQihZ019QQit emZ290138216585QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V) system. Never really heard of it before, was wondering if I could get some feedback on it. It's a bit cheaper then the Apexi WS2 and at the moment I'm a bit short on money, but I don't wanna buy a peice on junk. thefooshmeister 07-30-2007, 08:00 PM go with the apexi it looks nice for the price CivicSpoon 07-30-2007, 09:05 PM My friend bought a pacesetter years ago, and it was a piece of crap. The damn thing rusted within 6 months. Definitely go with the apexi. thefooshmeister 07-31-2007, 10:37 AM or if you plan on going turbo or doing internal work you could just have a muffler shop make you a 2.5" straightpipe..attach it to a nice sounding muffler and even add in a resonator if you want..ive got 2.5" on both my cars and it sounds nice. ShinyNewPenny 07-31-2007, 11:03 PM Right now I have a straight pipe coming from the header going to the muffler. It's really loud and probably won't pass emissions. I figure instead of getting a cat and resonator put on I would just get a new catback system. Plus I don't like seeing the fartcan sticking out of the back. :p As far as my steering wheel problem, it looks like it's adjustable but missing the tilt lever. I'm not really sure how to try to adjust it, I was looking at the manual and the steering column and I found 2 tilt lockbolts. I was considering loosening them and trying to adjust it that way, but figured I'd ask on here first. Here are a couple pics of the column: http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/264/steer1zp7.th.jpg (http://img295.imageshack.us/my.php?image=steer1zp7.jpg) http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/6554/steer2vv4.th.jpg (http://img211.imageshack.us/my.php?image=steer2vv4.jpg) The guy who originally worked on the car didn't leave it in the best condition and did alot of stuff half-assed. hondacivic99sivtec 08-01-2007, 02:01 AM well if you buy a cat back you will need a cat. and i would go with a apexi or go with a decent resonator and a otto-r round nuffler. used this setup on my 95 civic ex, 88 crx siand a few other of my previous cars. i liked it and so did other ppl. pace setter is okay but i wouldn't buy it. skunk2 has some nice exhaust. well anyway here's a good link: link (http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2035530) Greenblurr93 08-01-2007, 09:54 AM unless he bolts in a test pipe to fill the gap from the header to the cat-back. thefooshmeister 08-01-2007, 11:00 AM i had a test pipe on mine but put the stock cat back on when i had to get the muffler made..stupid laws.. CivicSpoon 08-01-2007, 12:30 PM if you need to pass emissions, then use a cat. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
