01 Chevy Astro Radiator Replacmenttinysvan 07-26-2007, 01:34 PM Hey Guys, I Have A 01 Chevy Astro With 70k Miles My Radiator Has A Small Crack (about 1") On The Front Driverside Of The Van, It Will Only Leak When The Van Has Been Driven For A While. Do I Need To Replace The Radiator Or Is There Some Other Way To Fix It. Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated. Another Problem I Have Is When The Van Is Cold The Idle Is Real Rough But Runs Smooth When Driving Or Put In Neutral At A Stop Light............. Blue Bowtie 07-31-2007, 07:10 PM Any repair of the GRP (plastic) tank would require removal and a thorough cleaning of the damaged area. A new radiator can be had for under $150, so you make the call. ericn1300 07-31-2007, 08:03 PM with a crack that big you might as well replaced it. i wouldnt trust it. i got one online for my pontiac a radiatorbarn.com not chinese crap, good quality candian built for about $70 less than anything local and they come in 2 days. tinysvan 08-01-2007, 10:41 AM Thanks Guys! I'm Going To Replace The Radiator, I Don't Want To Take A Chance On It Leaking Again....i Had A Leak In My Water Pump About 6 Months Ago I Put Some Stop Leak In The Radiator And It Has Not Leaked Since. Should I Replace The Water Pump Before I Put In The New Radiator?.. old_master 08-02-2007, 11:09 PM Replace the water pump while the radiator is out of the vehicle. It gives you more room to work, and you don't have to worry about damaging it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
