Hey guys, long time no post. Money has been tight and my car has been on the back burner.

Anyways, I'm after a new set of wheels if I can find somebody to buy mine. What you guys think?

Black with the machined face, or gunmetal? (http://www.wheelsnext.com/default.cfm?action=dspWheel&MODEL=RB1%20%28007%29&color=BLACK%20(MACHINED%20FACE))

(by the way I have an ICW hookup so i get deep discounts on an already low priced wheel, thats why I'm after ICW)

Side note: got me a set of sideskirts for 20 bucks runaround so thats coming as soon as I can get some extra cash!

I like both, but the polished face maybe look a little funny on a silver car.

Tough call there... I like both really.

I would get gunmetal, thats what I have on my car (granted my car is red) but I think gunmetal looks sweet on eclipes in general

Do a 5 to 10 spoke wheel with either a gunmetal or black face and a machined or polished lip, it will look amazing!! I personaly don't think flat faced wheels with no lip look very good on eclipses. If money is the issue, you've got to trust me on this one, Save Save Save!!! Wheels are probably the most noticable mod you can do on your car, so do it right and make it look sick!! Also if you do it, make sure you do 18's, trust me the difference between the look of 17s and 18s is huge.

This is right before I lowered it about 1.5 inches.

But if you insist on getting those wheels I would do the silver. I say that because you always want to have a color close to your car somewhere in your wheels, it helps make the wheels more noticable as aftermarket. The gunmetal will look to plain because the whole thing is just gunmetal (it may get mistaked for a steelie).

Yeah, drunk friends + door = missing handle :grinyes:

I'm in the process of having the whole car painted now, including my missing handle:icon16:

I like those wheels quite a bit. Black w/machined outside look best in my head on a silver car.

What is the bolt pattern for a '98 RS? Is 100 or 114.3? Is there an offset I should keep in mind when looking for wheels?

SilvrEclipse

It should be 114mm, not to sure on the offset though.

First off thanks for all the replies.

Secondly, on the 2gb I like 17 inch wheels, however I do think that darker wheels look smaller and would bump up to 18s if I got something dark. At one point i had a set of wheels ordered that looked like knock offs of theses racing harts (http://www.wheelsnext.com/default.cfm?action=dspWheel&MODEL=CX%20%282%2DPIECE%29&color=BLACK%20(GLOSS%20FINISH)). But they ended up sending the wrong wheel (pic at bottom) and not having the ones I wanted any more.

Third, what kind of wheels are those and what did they run you?

Lastly, any more pics of silver 2gb's with wheels on them would be awesome. I may end up leaving the white ones on there until i get another car and just save up, but I'm just going with the flow at the moment:smokin:

Edit: forgot my pic:icon16:

Didn't like these because they had too many spokes

Ok so I started looking again and found these. (http://www.wheelsnext.com/default.cfm?action=dspWheel&MODEL=002&color=GUNMETAL)

Opinions?

EDIT: They don't come in 18's. I really want these (http://www.wheelsnext.com/default.cfm?action=dspWheel&Model=EVO5&color=BRONZE). Opinions on bronze on silver?

SilvrEclipse

I wouldn't get bronze, doesn't go with silver to well. Not a fan of the first ones either.

EDIT: I have always been a loved this style rim, not sure if it will look good on an eclipse but deffinatly a hot wheel.

Too many spokes for my tastes.

Just found out that my hookup also can get Roja's. I think I found what I want. What do you guys think about these (http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=wheelCloseUp&wheelMake=RO_JA&wheelModel=R2-5&wheelFinish=Black+w%2FAnodized+Lip)?

What would would it run me to get a set of 19s, and is it practical on a car that would primarily be used for going fast. I really like 5 or 6 spoke rims.

Does anyone know exactley how much it would be a set of 19s in any color of these rims? They look awesome and very expensive.

Damn dude dont be so lazy. You know who makes the wheel and what its called. Look that shit up yourself, no need to waste my time when you can do it just as good as I can. And dont put 19's on a car if you lookin for speed, to much weight and not enought tire. Go with 17's for performance, you could get 18's if you wanted but most people just go with 17's.

What exactly do you mean by "fast"? You drive an RS...not to be a dick but I don't think your gonna have a problem there.

I would say 18" rims are the max for these cars, regardless of your trim model.

I've actually seen a set of 19's on an Eclipse before and I thought it looked pretty sexy and fills the wheel wells nicely... I wouldn't go that big myself though...

I think those wheels look great, much better than the old selection. Do 18's if you can, trust me.

I want to slam my car down (maybe coilovers.) Would i get any rub with 18s if i were to drop it over 1 inch? I mean when turning i would think it would just chew the tire up right?

I've got a set for my Talon. I test fit them on my Eclipse (mind you it sits like 2.5" off the ground), and it looked sexy as HELL. Couldn't drive it though, it would rub because the car is so low.

No, 18's will not rub, as a matter of fact 19's wont rub depending on how low you want to go. I'm going with 19's and a 2" drop on the Talon and I'm 99% sure they won't rub.

EDIT: Figured I should add that although 19's are sexy as a mofo, they kill performance. So if you're looking for anything performance wise, I would stay with 17's. Or just keep the stockers or get a set of lightweight 15's for when track time comes like I'm doing.

I'm guessing 17's with 40 profile tires.

those 12" brakes look awful small behind those (17" *maybe*) rims... :icon16: but it looks good and proportionate (english major, cant you tell!)
