96 Regal Custom: After Brake Job Rear Break Knock when Foot Pedal is Pushedecstacyofgold 07-24-2007, 12:13 AM Just did a brake job on my Regal. I only replaced the rear pads/rotors. Now, every time I tap the brakes while moving, I get a distinct "knock" or "tap" or "click" type sound coming from the rear DRIVER SIDE only. I'm assuming this is the brake caliper but I'm not sure. It does not happen in reverse. It doesn't get louder when going faster (in fact, you cant even hear it when your going over 25 or 30mph). I thought at first I had just not tightened the caliper enough, so I pulled the tire off and re-tightened both bolts to no avail. The car brakes just fine, and has no noticeable problems short of the knocking sound when tapping the brakes. Any Suggestions? ecstacyofgold 08-14-2007, 10:21 PM Bumpalicious richtazz 08-24-2007, 09:04 PM Sorry you didn't get a prompt reply to your first post. There are circular shaped metal clips that help retain the rear pads in the caliper. If these clips are weak/missing, or if the caliper slides are worn out, this would definitely cause your symptoms. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
