Could be a Merc, people switch the grilles around. wolftrap 07-28-2007, 11:41 AM Looks like a '46-'48 Ford convertible. Could be a Merc, people switch the grilles around. no, it seems like Ford convertible but acording to photos of Ford conv I found on the net I can tell that it's not. So still I don't know what car is it :frown: sub006 07-28-2007, 12:28 PM Are you sure the pics were of early postwar Fords? A '40 or a '49 do look quite a bit different from the beige car. There are '48 Ford fiberglass bodies that bolt onto an '80's Cutlass chassis. Many use these to build street rods. Some of the lines are a bit "swoopier", but they are unmistakably '48 Ford styling. See if there's a Flathead or Early Ford V8 club near you. Any member could look at your picture and tell you the exact year. KManiac 07-28-2007, 02:31 PM My vote is for '46 to '48 Ford or Merc. It looks like the black convertible used in the "Back to the Future" trilogy. sub006 07-29-2007, 02:50 AM Another movie to check out would be "Grease". Kinickie's beater white convertible is an early postwar Ford as we've been discussing, and it's the spittin' image of the beige car. It gets a George Barris make-over into "Greased Lightning" for the race against the later-model Mercury. wolftrap 07-29-2007, 12:54 PM Oh yeah! It is the '46 Ford convertible! http://info.detnews.com/dn/joyrides/2000/globe/46fordshaefer.jpg http://info.detnews.com/dn/joyrides/2002/motorcity/46fordmicol.jpg sub006: sorry, you were right.
