Aluminum RadiatorSteveB05 07-22-2007, 06:10 PM I was asked over PM if I liked my aluminum radiator. I thought it would be good to share my reply with everyone... Very happy (keeps me nice and cool in the 120 degree heat out here). http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2D380328&N=700+400304+115&autoview=sku http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=BCI%2D75007&N=700+4294838842+115&autoview=sku And you will need a tranny cooler (since the radiator is not so equipped). http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2DG4962A&N=700+4294888847+115&autoview=sku Everything together seems a little expensive, but you get a HP gain, and better cooling and if you wheel, you don't have to worry about water deflecting your belt driven fan into your radiator. It works really well. Don't miss that the radiator doesn't come with a cap, overflow fitting or drain cock. You can pick all that up locally or order some nice anodized stuff from Summit (which is what I did). Oh and you will need to "create" some mounts, but if you are even slightly resourceful, you'll figure something out. bringselpup 07-22-2007, 08:42 PM No pic no radiator. :iceslolan SteveB05 07-22-2007, 09:31 PM too dark right now, but I'll snap some pics tomorrow afternoon :) bringselpup 07-24-2007, 07:40 AM I'm hoping to see how you dealt with the tranny cooler. SteveB05 07-24-2007, 09:09 AM Yeah...its different. We had some monsoon weather here yesterday so I couldn't get picutres (the truck doesn't fit in the garage). I'll find a cover this afternoon and get some taken. Basically though, I removed the upper half of the factory air box and mounted the trans and engine oil coolers to the lower half with an 8" fan pulling air up through the box and cooler coils. Also, even though I recommended puller fans for the radiator, I installed pushers...but that is why I recommend pullers due to the amount of stuff I had to cut out to fit the pusher fans. I had some serious over heating issues though and wanted to keep the option of the belt driven fan in case the radiator couldn't keep it cool...but happily I didn't have to put that back on. SteveB05 07-24-2007, 06:15 PM Whithout further delay... View 1 of the Radiator - The fan t-stat is at the far right in front of the battery. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb187/steveb05/IMG_1736.jpg View 2 of the Radiator - The fan t-stat sensor bulb is laying on top, under the bracket. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb187/steveb05/IMG_1737.jpg The Fans - two 11" fans tucked into the grille (lots of cutting for that). http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb187/steveb05/IMG_1741.jpg The Remote Oil Filter - Bolted to the front of the block. Much easier to get to. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb187/steveb05/IMG_1739.jpg The Trans and Engine Oil Coolers - Trans is under the engine oil cooler. Both mounted to the air box lower housing. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb187/steveb05/IMG_1738.jpg bringselpup 07-24-2007, 10:15 PM Ok so you were able to put the coolers where you did because you've removed the stock airbox? That is a sweet looking radiator too. SteveB05 07-24-2007, 10:23 PM Yep. In the process of redesigning the air filter system...right now I'm running an Edelbrock Pro filter but want something with better filtration for wheeling with. AZJeepdaddy 07-25-2007, 10:03 AM Thanks for the great pics, I was wondering how you handled the trans. cooler. Do you have a temp. sensor on the trans? If so, what it's temp on a hot day? SteveB05 07-25-2007, 10:16 AM No I don't...it's on the to-do list. I acually have a front seal leak on the tranny so its coming out this weekend. I'll likely add a sensor at that time.
