Hello all,
Does somebody have a step by step or pictures on how to R&R the A/C Evaporator. I work on lots of cars, its my hobby. This car is my friends, he has no manualls or anything. Just looking for some lessons learned in the R&R of the evap. I just hope all I have to do is remove the glove box door. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You'll have to remove the whole dash,I wouldn't atempt it without
proper service info.

Ok
Went to alldata, and they dont support the 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager or Dodge Caravan.

Any other ideas??

I seriously doubt Haynes or Chiltons would be so accommodating as to give the instructions you're looking for but, as you can see, I've been wrong before. You can buy them for around $15 - 20 at some auto parts stores. Check online. Some libraries have them.

hey all, that eautorepair.net had the voyager.

New question:
I did every step they said, (wish I could cut and paste but it tells me its diabled) in any case, I am so close in removeing heater / ac unit houseing. I dont understand what they are telling me to remove.

This last step says:

disconnect two upper mounts from upper reinforcement and lower mount from tunnel.

I am confused..please help me...:banghead:

Update, still dont understand that step, however I can move the hoseing unit, but I can not move it back far enough to clear the bolt studs from the firewall, I was wondering if I need to re-move the steel support rod that attaches to both "A" Pillars... or what..I am so close and so confused..

hey all,
I finally got the evap out and it was a real pain in the @ss. I wish I could post a pic for everyone so they could see what needs to be removed. I will tell you that the whole AC/Heat unit needs to removed, dont be like me and take alot of those small screws that hold the two pieces togheter on the ac/heating unit. I pulled a good vaccum today, so I am putting the beast back together and should have ice cold air on Sunday. If any wants me to send they the pics, reply to me with your email and I will send them to ya

Hey all,
Can somebody tell if how I can tell if my buddies Voyager has a rear evap?? I have no idea how to tell, I am pretty sure it does NOT have one, however what is confusing me is the middle row seat has controls for the rear fan. I dont know where that fan is located. I really need to find out so I can make sure I put the correcect amount of r-134a in. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help on this project, I am almost done, just need to add r-134, :grinyes: :grinyes:

If any body needs pic of my project just drop me a e-mail and I will send them to you, I did not find any good illustrations on how to remove the AC/heat unit, this project is not really that time consumming, I took more stuff apart than needed.

Thanks again for everybodys suggestions
Brad

Hey all! Did this job myself also. Not that bad. Takes about 8 to 9 hours total. Need help to remove the dash, two person job. The three bolts are not too difficult to distinguish, but two are on the top of the Distribution Housing and the final one is on the bottom of the Distribution Housing.

Alldata has the info......

PS: to determine if you have a rear evaporator, you can look at your lines by the TXV in the front and see if you have a line leading to the rear of the vehicle (high side line) or by looking under the vehicle and observing for hard lines from the AC leading to the rear. Be careful not to confuse the rear heater core lines with AC lines.

Also, the easy way is to call a dealership with the VIN and ask them. They can tell you by the VIN if the option was installed by the factory.

Hi , You donot have to remove dash out of the van . Just unbolt and pull back towards drivers side. I do alot of these once you done it ,you learn how to unbolt less ! Nice job !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree! I moved the dash out of the way for the pictures, but we left it in the van. Here's a picture of the dash in the middle of the van....

these instructions helped me alot. Best thing is to not undo any screw, etc., that aren't listed.

(You will have to remove the mirrors, though. If I were to revise the steps, I'd pull the dash 'board'. - the top/liner that butts up to the windshield. It just snaps out. Then the mirrors, then the rest.)
