95 Grand Caravan back up lights won't workbdeaner 07-16-2007, 08:43 AM I've changed the bulbs and checked the fuses, but the back up lights still will not light up when I'm in reverse. Where do I go from here to correct this problem? RIP 07-16-2007, 09:54 AM The neutral start safety switch controls reverse light function. Here's how to test it. http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/10/ce/14/0900823d8010ce14/repairInfoPages.htm I've read the switch is less than $20. Could just be a loose or corroded connection. The shift linkage needs to be adjusted correctly for the switch to work correctly. If your van will only start in park or neutral then it's a good bet the linkage is adjusted properly. tsyzer 07-16-2007, 03:13 PM We have the same problem, only it appears that our model (98) has the switch for the back-up lights actually ON the transmission. The mechanics who discovered that for us didn't charge us for the 4 hours of work they did trying to figure that out, but they were quite irritated. I called an AAMCO and they said it would run anywhere around $400 just to get at the switch, assuming that's the issue. My best suggestion if your switch is in the same place-move to Jersey, you don't need back-up lights to pass inspection. RIP 07-16-2007, 05:07 PM tsyzer Your fix would cost $400 because your switch is inside the tranny. Assuming you have the 4 speed you have to partially dismantle the tranny to get at it. http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/1a/47/90/0900823d801a4790/repairInfoPages.htm Move to Jersey? You've...well, I'll leave it be. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
