1994 Honda Accord speed sensorMar424 07-12-2007, 08:48 PM I think the speed sensor in my car needs to be replaceed. The speedometer jumps from 0-120 all the time and the check engine comes on and gives the code for the speed sensor. So my question is, first, where is the speed sensor on the car? I have the haynes book and it says it is right next to the distributor, but it is not there on my car. Also, whats the difference in speed sensors, on ebay they range from about $20-$200. Are there better brands I should get? Or some I should stay away from? jeffcoslacker 07-13-2007, 08:15 AM 1994 Honda Accord Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Location http://z.about.com/d/autorepair/1/0/O/-/83244559.gif Honda Accord Speedometer Jumping (http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl022i.htm) That's where it is...I'm about to go look on my '95 and see...you didn't say auto or manual...it may be different but I don't think so... jeffcoslacker 07-13-2007, 08:27 AM Well hell...you're right, just looked on mine, it's not there (or anywhere near there) Looking from the top, I don't see anything that could be it either. I'll try to find out something... jeffcoslacker 07-13-2007, 08:35 AM OK I did find this: http://techauto.te.funpic.org/vss0.gif That would put it in the output side of the diff, just above and inboard of where the passenger side CV shaft comes outta the diff...wife just left with the car so I can't verify... jeffcoslacker 07-13-2007, 09:51 AM She came back and I took a look...really needed a flashlight but I think I do see it...right where the above diagram shows...in the output side of the diff...look at your thermostat housing. Now look at the space where the hose coming from it bends and goes forward...look down through that space where the hose bends and just rearward and inboard of that, it's right there in the transx casting...will probably have to relocate a few things to have room to access it, unless there's a tricky way to reach under some stuff... jeffcoslacker 07-13-2007, 10:05 AM You know what? I think the first diagram does actually show the location...but you are supposed to assume the rest of the motor is "ghosted"...so it would actually be behind and to the rear of the distributor and head, which it is...it's a stupid drawing, makes it appear to be in the top over the flywheel, next to the distributor... Mystery solved! Mar424 07-13-2007, 02:09 PM You know what?
