View Full Version : Anyone from the EU(not UK) Anyone from the EU(not UK) Gasara 09-16-2001, 02:36 PM ps. I'm just asking this, cause I will be moving back to Europe(from the US) and just wanna know what are the requirements. thx for all:flash: NX1600 09-16-2001, 02:43 PM I think if you buy one in the UK, you could easily import it to any other country in europe, cauz it then already is Eu certified. You`ll only have to pay local tax. (But I have never seen an GT-R on the continent in the wild) Gasara 09-16-2001, 02:52 PM Yeah, I know that u can easily import one from the UK, but I think u can get it WAY cheaper from Japan, also I think the UK ones need to be modded a lot, converted to miles and all that crap. I've seen couple GT-Rs when I was in Germany 4 years ago or so. NissanSkyline 09-16-2001, 03:39 PM They cost more than in japan, but are far easier to get hold of and need less mods than in the usa. There are hundreds of excellent second hand ones available in the uk, where as the usa has practically none. I suggest you find a second hand one, and import that. micro 09-16-2001, 11:29 PM when the hell did europe swith from the metric system to miles?:bandit: Gasara 09-16-2001, 11:39 PM oopsy, i meant converted from miles back to km, hehe...my bad. I think every car 2years and older in the UK has to be converted to miles. Again, I'm not looking to import it to the USA. I'm looking to import it to continental Europe. micro 09-16-2001, 11:42 PM whoa, thats crazy, i didnt know that they made u convert them after a few years...:bandit: redback911 09-17-2001, 09:09 AM Hi, I live in Belgium and I have an R34. Getting it homologated took time but it was helped by the fact I brought it via the UK. /Dan Gasara 09-17-2001, 09:18 AM Hi Dan, What mods u had to do? Was it already a UK model or a Japanese one? Did it easily passsed the Eur-2 test? redback911 09-17-2001, 09:28 AM Hi Gasara, It was a UK spec car so it had a SVA papers, this helped with getting the car thru hmologation. There were a number of questions concerning teh lack of safety numbers for glass, seat belts etc. But these could be solved by bureaucratic arguing, the main issues were the C/O, Lights and Exhaust noise. The lights I guess are the main issue as Nissan does not make a set for driving on the right handside of the road and lights are tested as part of the homologation, in the end we took a set of lights from a Mitsibish Galant and put the lens and buckets under the R34 outer glass and they work great. BTW I am still waiting to see if the C/O and Noise tests have passed (as the paperwork can take months). Although I do not see a problem. /Dan redback911 09-17-2001, 09:30 AM As soon as I went thru all the tests I upgraded my car to 500BHP, using Cams, Fual Rail, Injectors, bigger Turbo's, clutch, AP 6-Pot brakes, Etc... Next year new stricter rules will come into effect so it may be impossible to homologate the car if needed : ( /Dan Gasara 09-17-2001, 10:14 AM The lights arent that hard to fix. If u get the C/O and noise tests, could u please post it. Also what was wrong with the seat belts? Yah, I heard that the Euro-3 or whatever it is called, real stupid and Merc and BMW was complaining about, cause their big engines cars wouldnt pass those tests. NiteskyR 11-17-2001, 10:52 AM bull , wat do they do shit! extreme_one 08-19-2003, 06:34 AM Did the Mitsubishi Galant lights fit perfectly? ER34GTt 10-01-2004, 04:33 PM dude I live in germany and I have an R34GTT coming in two weeks the deal about the germans is pretty tough their inspections are more rigurous tahn any place ive been,,,but there is a catch if you can call me a at (49) drop zero if calling from US 01796883320 i will be more and happy to let u know what i had to go through ER34GTt 10-01-2004, 04:34 PM dude by the way purchase from UK 25% import tax and another 16% some dang thing haller! ER34GTt 10-01-2004, 04:40 PM dude it wont be certified yet if you purchase it in the UK..25% german tax plus another 26% for something else...plus all the inspections you talking about ..insurance is outragous cos they go by HP of your car..bring one bone stock if you could..no mods to engine you can do that once u get it in GTR/S Muzzi Cat 10-28-2004, 06:10 PM Where are you living in Germany that they have 25% tax plus another 26???? I Just started a business here and the fact is the total tax to get any car into Germany is 26% total. That is 10% import tax and the standard 16% value added tax or what’s known as “Mehrwertsteuer". There is no 25 plus another 26 yada yada.... I have been thru the process once already and the import tax can float a FEW % higher because of the year of the vehicle but nowhere near 20% the value added tax is a set 16% be it a car or oranges. I have a registered business on the local German economy here as a vehicle import/exporter I have called Zoll (tax) and got the full rundown, the %'s you are talking about arent for Germany! Yeah the German inspection "TUV" is tough but nothing like the stuff the people in the US have to go thru with the whole MotoRex bit. After reading up on that Germany is cake! With emission the deal is easy also, any modifications and you are almost sure to fail CURRENT emissions BUT you can still register and legally drive the car under its year of manufacture test results, just your street tax "Strassensteuer" is going to be thru the roof, as it will be already due to the HP. For clarification, they wont fail your 95 GTR for failing current test, they will fail it and block it if it fails the results they were using as standard in 1995. Once again, its still going to be expensive to drive for not meeting what I think is currently Euro norm 3 emissions regulations. There are a whole plethora of issues here in Germany and if you didn’t do your homework up front it’s going to get to be expensive quick! If you are working for the military the process is easy and I can have you rockin your ride about two days after it hits port. That includes the 6 hour plus trip (one way) to Bremerhaven and back (yeah I know you can make it faster but try it pulling a trailer there and back, German regulation reqires you to stay at 80 KMH when pulling a trailer be it loaded with a vehicle or not). Hope you know what you are doing if not....... Get ready to pull out some hair and shell out some big bucks dude. ER34GTt 10-30-2004, 04:05 AM well excuse me GURU, well I just clarified it with my german friend after I had posted that reply and never had a chance to correct it yup u are right only 26% taxes but to all you MILITARY ID card holders is FREE YES YES YES "FREE" why do i know cos i have a 1998 GTT sitting in my garage port...all you have to do is go to your local MP customs office and get the paperwork, collect your car at the port which you will pay 154 euros for port handling and security charges and pay another 130 euro for the fwding agent to unpack your container then slap the EU plates and drive home!! if your not use to driving on the right hand side please let somebody tow your car back for you....dont wanna wreak your skyline b4 ypou could even enjoy it....MUzzi call me I have buyers that wanna talk to you....my number is on one of the earlier post...uppppsss update ...military ID card holders ...bring your car with tempp plates to the base TUV inspection ...make sure lights, brakes and no leaks ...your car bound to pass no emissions or anything of that nature...and the 26% was UK MOT and TAX this is u purchase the car in UK GTR/S Muzzi Cat 10-31-2004, 07:18 AM My bad! Not tryin to flame you here or nothing just lot of smoke blowing here in Germany about the GTR and all. Quite sure you hear a lot too. You would be suprised about all of the actual arguments I get into over this whole subject. Its crazy. Sometimes I come out with the guns blazin, my bad! Got to see it from my perspective, talk like this (over high taxes) drive away customers. Its been a real problem for me as a importer trying to dispell all of the misconceptions and get the customer to trust me on the whole bit. I will give you a ring on Monday afternoon, mad busy on some export projects and Monday afternoon they should be closed up (yeah I work on sundays :frown: . Cool, no doubt you will hear from me Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com! Registration is absolutely free. |
