Weird distributer o-ring oil leak problem

I had some oil leakage for some time. Took it to the shop finally about a week ago, they replaced a few gaskets including o-ring under the distributer mount, paid quite a penny. Now after a few days it leaks again, by far not as hard but definitely leaks exactly under that mount on which the distributer sits. Sure I will take it back to the shop but would be nice to hear why would it still leak.

Other than that the car worked and works fine.

Any advice?

Yeah..too bad ..a common problem on ALL having this block, even when they have no distributor at all but just a cap....including my son's Z-34 that, even with different DOHC heads, uses the same block and gasket....

I would agree. It is very common. I've changed em 5 times myself.. The Gaskets cheap as long as you reinstall the distributor into the same position. ;) Good luck, mine allways cook and the O-rings become rock hard.

Do yourself a favor, and also install an old small block Chevy paper distributor gasket (Fel-Pro part # 70194) between the top of the block and the distrubutor/oil pump drive housing. It won't leak again.

Thanks for the #. I'll try it. Everyone in these parts have never heard of it. So I'll have them look up the # :)
