My daughter brought her 200 grand am over and the coolant was full of oil and no water in oil at first thought I am thinking head gaskets my question is, is there another way the oil may be getting in the coolant.

Coolant in the oil is typical from a leaking Lower intake gasket. Which it can leak coolant into the oil, in to a piston.

Get a compression test down to see if it is a head , but most likly its the LIM.

This is very common with the old style gaskets, the new design is much better.

There is no coolant in the oil and she says the car never got hot. She had a little accident last week and now I'm thinking the oil maybe passing through in the radiator. The car runs good and sounds good

Well the oil does not go through the radiator.
The trans lines go through it though, but that would give the coolant a red tint and or put coolant into the trans and it would be slipin and eventually becoming none working.

If it has Dex antifreeze it does get muddy looking after if gets old and sometimes it;ll look like it has oily stuff in it.

The only thing I can say is try a cooling system flush and make sure the proper coolant is added and see if it gets more oil into the coolant.

Also it does not have to over heat if the LIM is bad.

Good Luck

Thanks the more I read about it the more I think you are right about the intake manifold gsk. The water has oil in it that looks burnt but the oil in the engine looks clean and also her low coolant light came on last week. I just bought this car for her about a month ago so I'm still learning about it.
