Oil PumpKawazar 07-08-2007, 11:09 AM I need to do the oil pan on my 94 1500 with the 5.7L. While I am there I thought I would do the oil pump too. I noticed there is a OE pump, a high volume pump and a high pressure/high volume pump. Any reason why I should use anything but standard? I have 149K on the motor now and I'm not sure if there would be any benifit on a stock motor to using any of the other pumps. sub006 07-17-2007, 03:13 AM The hp pumps will probably cost you some power and mileage to turn them, compared to the stock one. If you've got 30 pounds or more, well warmed-up at highway speeds, you don't need more pressure. Excess pressure is only good for causing oil leaks! taillight 07-17-2007, 09:49 AM Go OE unless your going to run it 1/4 mile on sunday.
