300ZX TT or 3000GT TT?

think

Ok... Im thinkin either one of those two... Both Twin Turbo. I know that the 300zx tt comes with 300 horses and the 3000gt tt comes with 325. But what do you guys think is better? What are some pro's and cons about both of them. And please dont just say one or the other cause you like it better, i need some reason's and facts about the cars.
Thanks for the help.

I considered the non turbo versions of both and ended up going with the 300ZX based on what I saw from the opinions and comments of previous owners on http://carpoint.msn.com. It seems to me that one of the major issues surrounding a 3000GT for me was the unreliable nature (and the lack of non-turbo performance, though that's clearly not going to be a factor for you). With the comparable HP, how do the weights of the cars compare? How reliable do owners of the TT's say they are?

300ZX TT all the way...like what was said the weight issues and reliability of the 3KGT VR4 are truly what brings it down...the Z weighes 3200 lbs while the VR4 comes in at a nice hefty 3800 lbs...it has 320HP btw...not 325HP

I THINK THAT 3000GT TT WILL BE BETTER, BECAUSE IT COMES WITH 4WD. BETTER HANDLING:bandit:

though the 3000gt has AWD, the 300zxTT has the HICAS system. the funny thing is that most Z owners eliminate the HICAS system because they don't want it. good handling can be found in sway bars, strut bars, spacers, etc. if you want a car you can modify, the 300zxTT is the way to go. their parts are hard to find...but damn...there are hardly ANY parts for a 3000gt. My suggestion...get a 300zxTT, Kill the HICAS, put on an N/A differential (better gearing) on the back and become a drifter. Drifting and AutoX kicks ass...hehe.

Better handling? Ha! Dude the car weighes 3815 lbs...how is it going to out handle a car that weighes 3200 lbs? AWD gives good grip I admit...but it's not going to be more nimble when it carries so much extra weight...

Depends on what you are wanting to do with the car. The 3000gt has very small turbos and they will have to be replaced to get any really big power out of it. They have a hard time holding 15psi to redline with intake and exhaust mods. The Z mod for mod will out perform the gt in most cases. If you are gonna only autocross..get an rx7.

go with the 300zx TT all the way. the vr4 is very unreliable as are almost all mitsubishi cars. i don't know many people that have owned a 300zxTT and been unsatisfied with its performance and ability to be upgraded.

Well my friend hopefully you will make the wise choice of the Z! I don't know who had said it up there, but parts for the Z are not hard to find. Yes, they may be more expensive, but there is a huge variety out there. All's ya' gotta do is look. Now for the VR4, they are hard as hell to find, and when you do they are hella expensive.

Good Luck!

I know that im kinda partial JUST getting my 91 300zx TT, but heck the car rocks! First car I came to...just happend to be a 3000gt..no bs. He starts to speed up  the little voice in my head told me to punch it, and who am I to argue with the little voice? After about 100 ft he couldnt keep up. 3000 gt sure do look nice but like everyone here has told you, they are crap. The TT stealth is pretty much the same car (if not the same) and cant keep up. But dont take my word for it, take car and drivers word for it.

Just my .02.....I was considering a 300z all through High School. But I got to take a 3000GT to prom. Then I was hooked. As for the original post, you wanted facts and reason's. Hears mine. The 3000Gt VR-4 has AWD, AWS. It might weigh like 600lbs more then a 300Z but that helps with the handling around turns. It's not that hard to lose 600lbs on our cars. As for reliability, mine is a daily driver and never had a problem. With any sports car it all depends if the previous owner took care of it and if you are going to take care of it. Another reason would be size. The 3000GT is a larger vehicle and I didn't feel that cramped in it. The 300Z was small for me. I also I like the looks of the 3000GT. I still have people come up to me and ask if my car is a 2003. Little do they know. I know that 300Z are extremely reliable form other people and easier to work on. But when it came down to it, I liked the 3000GT VR-4. I have seen some sweet 300Z with body kits around here that were TT. So just go with what you prefer. Make sure you test drive both before making a decision.

I couln't agree more! Test drive 2 or 3 of each car. Then you should know. Take your time it is a big investment.

Also the 320hp VR4 runs higher boost (12psi) than the 300ZXTT (9psi). Raise the Z's boost, it has the same hp. It doesn't have the 25% drivetrain loss that the 3S has, though. HICAS is easily tamed, a sensor on the steering wheel disables it if you know where to put a $1 switch. Then you turn it off at low speeds, and turn it on when you want AWS to change lanes at 145mph. Also TTZ's weigh 3400 pounds, its n/a's like mine that are 3200. STill they are 400 pounds lighter than a VR4, and hold the skidpad better. What 300ZX can't do is run a 1/4 mile like a 3S. At the end of the 1/4, same hp 3S will be ahead, but his trap will be much lower. Z's run slow 1/4's at high traps cause they can't get traction. The rear subframe gives up to 1.5", and that makes for terrible wheel hop. Greg Dupree makes subframe spacers that can fix this, but not many people have them. Also Z's are geared to run out way past 1/4. A stock TT traps the 1/4 at around 100, but it'll run up to 155 before the speed limiter shuts it down. Jim Wolf's ECU gets you no limiter and 60 hp, and I've heard some people claim they hit 200 in I/E, chip 300ZXs. Just hearsay though.

a 300zx will outhandly a 3000gt and day of the year. and you you get slick on you tires you will get the same amount oftraction. the 3000gt has nothing on the Z. my 2cents
