1987 2.8L S-10 Blazer Lacks Power Under Loadshawnster 07-06-2007, 05:09 PM I have an '87 Chevy S-10 Blazer S-10 2.8L Automatic trans., that has no power under load. When driving on the flat it's not too bad but trying to climb a hill the speed gradually drops down to 40km/h(painful) and I can't seem to increase this speed no matter how much I put my foot into it. There is no hesitation or stumble. The engine revs higher but not extreme when I do this and the kickdown doesn't seem to offer much change in performance either. I have noticed there is an audible whine that I can hear between first and second gear shift. :runaround: This engine has been oversized .030 over and has a high lift/high torque cam installed, so I know it does have power but just not using it. The fuel pump has been changed not long ago and the pressure is within spec. New fuel filter. Oil pressure is 60-70psi with a high volume oil pump. Timing is dead on. New spark plugs. Ignition wires were replaced and checked out fine. No vacuum leaks I have noticed. Transmission has been rebuilt with a new or rebuilt torque convertor installed at the time. It has less than 500k's in total travel since all this work has been done. I'm just running out of ideas. A few possibilities that I can think of is a possible defective torque convertor or the ESC module? ECM?....does anyone know of any other possibilities? Thank you in advance. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
