20's or Supercharger/Intercooler

Its a tough choice really. Both are going to cost me around $4,000 bucks if not more. I'm leaning towards 20's because from what I've heard, headers would help out give the s/c a little more pep, and I don't have money for headers. But it still keeps going through my head, I would like a little more power out of my truck. But then again...the bling. I dunno anyone have any reasons whether I should go one way or another.

supercharger! power over looks always!

Yeah well I plan on making this truck faster, but it ain't going to be any drag racer.

your truck looks good already, fuck some oversize ghetto ass 20's. Go with the supercharger and who cares about racing you will be able to get everywhere wiht more power and fun

20's jsut slow you down and most 20's are the most ugliest and ghettoest designs ever

my thoughts exactly. shit the Vortec V-6 is a potent engine already supercharge it and it will be badass. the stock Xtreme body and rims look good already. Supercharge first, later put some lightweight nice looking 17" or 18"s. :smoka:

Yeah, I'm going to have to echo the other's sentiments here. Go for the power/performance of the supercharger over some 20's. Your truck doesn't need any bling, looks good as is. Get that thing putting down some bad times!!!

lol 20's aren't a design they are a size of wheel. These are the wheels I was looking at deciding on.

well you said yourself you were never going to race it...and you cant accelerate / drive that fast everytime you're on the road, so im going to go against the crowd and say go with the 20s

the rims you were looking at were nice, but should NOT cost 4000...you could get some 20s for about 2000 if you looked around, of course nice-looking

i just think that you wouldn't really have any use for that power, since daily-driving doesn't really allow for it with traffic and everything

but if you ever plan on racing of any type, go with the supercharger

Well I never said I wasn't going to race it , but I definately wouldn't be accepting any challenges on the street with 20's on. I'd yell out to the guy he's fucking nuts. If I wanted to race I'd take the wheels off and go to Old Dominion with my original wheels and tires on.

4,000 was the price of the wheels + tires as well. But still the wheels are expensive as hell compared to most 20's, its like 3,100. I have my ways of getting them for less though.

Either way one of these days I will have both 20 inch wheels and the supercharger/intecooler, it's just a matter of which to go with first. Perhaps I need to decide myself first do I want to show my car more or do I want to race it and show it. A supercharger would definately give me something to lift my hood up for. Typically at the little meets I just keep it close cuz who gives a fuck to see a stock V6? I dunno we'll see what I think once I have the money.

Contrary to what most people believe, a supercharger is not a "bolt on" modification. If you're going to forced induction, there are tons of things that must be done, from lowering compression, to recalibrating your ECU.

Of course, you can supercharge it without doing these things, but don't expect too much extra performance, or your motor to last too long. I'll always recommend turbocharging over supercharging, because you have to do all the same things, and turbochargers offer more flexibility.

20's on an S10. Get the S/C and save some face.

As long as his compression is 9.5:1 or even 10.0:1 he'll be ok. But only run 3 or 4psi at the most on stock internals and with 10.0:1 compression, if you run the intercooler also you will be fine. And a computer tune wouldn't be a bad idea. :)

First off, nice ride. Im not too much into trucks, my head is stuck in the import clouds, but I know a sweet ride when I see one. As far as the exterior goes it looks fine like it is. If you do decide to get some new wheels, go with some 18's rather than 20's. Yea 20's look good and they bling bling and everything but I dont think its worth the performance loss as far as handling goes, ecspecially if your also thinking about adding some more horsepower. Personaly I would go with the supercharger cuz im more of a performance person. I can appreciate the show cars at most autoshows but to me a nice powerplant makes the vehicle just that much better. Just get whatever suits your needs the best and makes you happy. Cuz after all, its your ride, not anyone else's.

True, but what's the point of dropping $2K on a blower, however much to install it(especially if it's a "kit"), if you're only going to run a few lbs of boost? It's probably a good idea to drop the extra couple hundred to put some good pistons in it as well, I wouldn't trust stock pistons to handle the extra stress of the supercharger.

I'd check out what people are doing with Syclones and Typhoons, they were making 280hp stock out of those engines, and all the parts are available through your local GM dealer :D

I might end up going with both, 18's on front and 20's on rear. Mainly because I've heard 20's will rub on the front.

Don't give me that bs I've seen 22 inch wheels on the rear of an S-10 before as well. 20's are almost as common to see as 18's on an S-10.

Which has just leaned me more towards the wheels at this time. I don't have the money to spend on a million other things to help the supercharger.

I can get a complete "kit" that comes with everything you need, and I mean everything, from Vortech with intercooler for 3K. And pick up almost 100rwhp from it on 4psi. I don't know about imports, but for late model domestics the S/C kits you can buy are made for a specific year and car platform.

Syclones and Typhoons are from the last generation of the S Truck series, and use a 4.3L turbo V6 combined with AWD.

I'll take a Syclone or Typhoon anyday. That would be an awesome winter driver...

well all I gotta say is, we'll see. Regardless on what I decide I'm going to ask Procharger about the whole thing and see if its even worth it. Procharger is the only one so far that offers a Supercharger and Intercooler kit for the 99+ 4.3L V6.

Good luck with it, hope you're happy with whatever you decide :D .

100 rwhp on a S10 from 4 psi? Explain to me how that works...

Yes, Syclones were the previous generation, but you should still be able to build a similar engine, using many of the same parts.
