im having some engine problemslj8473 07-06-2007, 03:23 AM ok so i got a 98 plymouth neon DOHC and i blew a head gasket on it so i recently fixed the head gasket but for some reason i am leaking water and oil really badly now. i checked the pressure on the radiator to see if it was leaking and it held pressure with no leak after 30 mins but once i start driving it doesnt take but 10-15 mins to start smoking and overheating. and im not sure if the oil leak and water leak are connected anyone else have any info on it i would appreciate it Bear 07-06-2007, 11:58 AM When you replaced the head gasket, did you have the head checked for being true and not warped. If the head is warped she will leak. denisond3 07-06-2007, 07:18 PM Hopefully its not a warped head, but... If the head was warped enough, you might have coolant being pumped out with overheating resulting when the engine was running - due to the warped head. Doing a radiator pressure check wont necessary show up such a leak. The radiator tester works at 16-20 psi. The pressure forcing gases past the headgasket peaks at over 1000 psi in an engine running at moderate speeds. The engine head on a Neon has an oil passage that is very close to the edge of the gasket, so motor oil might be getting pushed out also. I wish you luck... lj8473 07-07-2007, 02:27 AM i got the head checked its fine. i will have to check this spot next to the head for the oil leak so far i havent been able to find it. i just see it dripping under the car. but i think the oil is coming out of where the power steering fluid container is bolted into the the engine robotman1969 08-10-2007, 03:57 PM where is the water comeing from ..... nere the timing belt ..... it could be the water pump ..... if it only leaks when driving vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
