more of the "Mad With Horsepower" questions. so what do you ppl think of the difference between building a 6.0l LQ9 or doing up a 6.2l L92. i have the Lq9 in my truck now but it's always a project truck so now i'm looking at something different to do to it. i always thought the 6.2l was a diesel but it seems that there is a gas jobbie in the 07-08 escalade that puts out 403hp & 417lb/ft. that seems like a better starting point plus i'm sure i could get a good price for my LQ9. there's not a whole lot of info on the L92 that i can find... i wonder if it would bolt in where the 6.0l was... and would the 4l60e trany bolt up? i'm guessing it should but i'm not really sure if the L92 is a better engine to do upgrades to. the 6.0l was sorta built as a "rat-rod" engine where the l92 was kinda built as a daily driver for a big heavy SUV. just looking for some ideas and thoughts on the 2 different motors.

Greetings,

I don't know anything about the L92. But I do have a VHO with an LQ9 in it. It comes with the 65 transmission (not the 60) because GM determined the 60 wasn't enough transmission for that power/torque need and use.

If you're thinking about an even bigger motor - it seems you'd be better off with a VHO truck or put 80 transmission in yours to be sure it will hold up. In a VHO - it has the performance suspension, 65 transmission, 4 wheel discs and the LQ9 with 345 hp - but it feels and handles like more. After 2.5 years now my LQ9 engine sure seems reliable and quiet until you kick it :)

No matter what you decide, I would dump that 60e. Your gonna spend some pretty good coin to get that 6.2L might as well get that 6L80E tranny with it. I remember reading in Truck Trend or something similar that that combo would rocket that Escalade right along.

If you decide to go with the 6.2, how much you lookin to get for the lq9?

well i've put too much money into my 60e (red eagle clutch pack, corvette servo, carbon fiber band, stuff like that) so it should stand up to 600 hp or so... again just guessin as i've never had it tested, yet. i need to know wether the L92 is as easy to upgrade as the LQ9. the 6.0l was designed to be a rat rod engine but i'm guessin the L92 wasn't. if i do end up going with the L92 i'd sell the LQ9 w/ new MAS for $3500 CAD not including shipping. it only has 15-17000 Km on it and runs like a dream... i do love this motor.
