Well my story is.

I have a 2dr 1994 jimmy 4x4, v6 4.3 lit.
She has 115k

When I got the car, The 4X4 was working great. Then I stoped using it, and now the button does not light up at all.

I checked behind the dash, to make sure no wire's where lose. And all the wire's that go to the button are connected.

Is somthing not getting power? What else couldI check?

Check the how to section.

And search some of the other post on here.

Always check power feeds and fuses first thing.

What transfer case do you have?

I have no clue what transfer case I have. I dont believe thats my problem. How can i find out?

Also, my problem is not getting power. or something to the switch, a fuse ripped power cable. Broken TCU. either way. my switch is not getting power.

Are their fuse's for the 4X4 button / tcu. I followed the wire's from the switch.

some go to the fuse box under the dash.
another on something on the steering wheel,
and a ground.

sorry for my poor English. And thank you for your help.

Your transfer case has a ID tag on the back of it.
Craw under there and have a look.
And while you are under there have a look at the wiring and plug ins under there.
Find fuse boxes and check all fuses for 12 volt power on both sides.
There is a TCCM 5 amp fuse and a 15 amp radio fuse and some ign fuses that power everything.

Check your cable to the front diff and see if it is stuck. this happens when not used mutch. your light wont come on in the dash untill it is actually locked in on the right front axle. seen this alot. Have seen it be the fuse in this case, but Im sure you already checked all fuses

I'm going to check if its stuck, Could it be switched with my hand if thats the case?

Thank you for your help.

Found the problem. It was a fuse. The 15 Radio fuse.

Thanks for all the help.

I still need to find out what that broken thing is. Even thought it has not effect driving while its broken. Thank you!

What are some things I can do for my 4wd system? changing any type of oil's?

Your welcome and thanks for posting back how it went.

The transfwer case uses Dexron111 transmission fluid.

Fuse:smokin: Hey that looks like a vaccume canister. plastick with one vaccume line in. Look for vaccume leak along fender wells and inner panels. they help hold extra vaccume so you dont lose defrost under heavy loads and excelleration.:smokin:

I agree, that looks like what it is. Also you want to replace this, or plug it, as its sucking dirt into your engine.
