1988 B2200 missing at idle, purge solenoid 'vibrates'duncel 07-03-2007, 06:00 PM My 1988 Mazda B2200 2.2L carburated recently started the following symptoms. Any insight would be appreciated! 1) When turning on the ignition (key in run position), the Purge solenoid starts 'buzzing' or 'vibrating'. Sounds like the solenoid is engaging/disengaging rapidly. The buzzing/vibration stops after the engine has started. 2) Something on the carburator also buzzes or vibrates, similar to (1) above. Unforunately I haven't been able to isolate the source of the noise. 3) After starting the engine vibrates excessively and will not run unless the accelerator is depressed about 1/4th of the way down. Even then the engine does not run smoothly - it sounds like it's missing, and you can smell unburnt fuel in the exhaust. I know that's a lot of issues, but are likely related because all came on at once. Thanks again for all input! Howard Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
