I'm just wondering if it is really a good idea to turbo a non-turbo 300ZX. Is the engine basically the same except for the turbo, fuel sys., compression, etc? Basically is it a good canidate for turbo? I found some really nice ones around here, but I haven't had any luck with turbo ones. I can find them, but they are always beat up or reallly high miled.

Z31 or Z32?

Z32's you are probably better of either swapping engines (which wouldnt be so expensive) or just getting a TT and skipping the mechanical hassle.

Yeah, i didn't want to swap though. It would be more expensive than finding a 300zx turbo. And yeah i was talking about the 32.

you have to do a lot of fab work to turbo a na 300ZX. at 300zxclub.com there are stickies about what is needed to do a conversion, but unless you are doing it to a slicktop you will be better off to buy a TT. Insurance on TT's are high, which is why I still drive a na and will until may when I turn 25. If you are looking for a daily driver don't disregard the na though, a few cheap mods (free flows and drivetrain freeups about $1500) will have you at 200rwhp (+-) and running with about anything V6 and most V8's from a roll.

If you are going to do it! The best way would be to swap the whole engine, and do fab work from there. The easiest would be to buy a TT.

I just decided to go with a TT. Just easier that way. I might have one soon.
