99 Legacy: takes a few seconds to go into Drive

The car goes right away in R but takes a few seconds to go into Drive. Once in Drive, all is ok.

have you check the fluid level in the trans? and what condition is the fluid in? bright red or brown

I've got a 2001 GT Legacy, and D takes a second or two to engage. Seems normal for that car. Just something to get use to.

yep, got a 99' B4 Legacy, takes about a second or two for "D" to engage. thought I am planning to flush the tranny anyhow;)
And yeh, trans fluid does make a bit of difference!
