My fuel pump makes a noise , sometimes loud , sometimes not so loud. Irritating! Anyhow is it supposed to or does it need changed and where is it located? Ugh. How hard would it be to do myself?

What year is your car?
Generally though if the engine runs fine in all conditions (starting, cruising, WOT conditions) then I wouldn't worry too much about the noise or no noise until the car starts running bad or quits altogether. A really noisy pump may be cause for concern though in the future, but all electric fuel pumps do make some noise.
If you feel you need to replace it, I can help you out if its a 93-97 model, 98 and up I am not clear about those.
