purchasing extended warrantytrantz 06-27-2007, 11:23 AM Cosidering the elite plus option from performance first. Would like either good or bad comments. Any better providers of extended warranties? Thank you. Tim '97ventureowner 06-27-2007, 12:53 PM I'm not a big fan of extended warranties. With that said, I would recommend that you read through the whole contract, including the fine print. Find out what is and isn't covered. Also see who can do the repairs, some contracts allow you to go to a dealership or garage of your choice, while othersmake you go to a specified garage to do any repairs. Sometimes there is no garage close to you and you may have to travel to get to the nearest one. Some contracts also specify which parts can be used, whether it be OEM or aftermarket. Some contracts have provisions where you have to pay a deductible on any repairs in addition to the regular cost of the warranty. I believe you might be able to check with Consumers Report to see if they have recently looked at vehicle extended warranties and have rated any of them. Another place to look is sites where consumers can leave opinions on items from appliances to vehicles to extended warranties. Epinions.com is one such website. The bottom line is make sure you understand all the aspects of the contract before you commit, so you don't end up paying more out of pocket on possibly shoddy repairs. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
