Those are some serious panel line trenches on that body. Someone could trip and fall into one, and be lost wandering them for weeks. :uhoh:

Otherwise it's a great looking kit. Nice detail on the engine block, probably better than I would have expected given the lack of availible references. I like the rings on the intake plenums. Sweet set of Cartografs, my favorite part of Revell Germany's recent releases.

Looks like it'll build up great. All right Julian- let's see you put it together!

Thank the Lord (of your choice) it's not the same wheel/hub system as found on their road cars. Gives me hope for the R8 kit. Anyone seen that one yet?

Thank God (also of your choice) that the vents are molded OPEN!!!

The wheels look pretty good as well. Where did you purchase this?

Revell decals shoul be from Zanchetti if I'm not wrong, a step behind Cartograf, to me. Anyway decent :D

Guys: they're improoving molds, not yet at Japs level, but becoming good.

I'm not impressed by those brakes..... are they following Tamiya's way speaking of aftermarket details???

Me too! Even if I can't or don't build it right-a-way, I still want it right now.
In fact, I would say I feel more like I NEED it! :grinyes:

PS: Julian, would you please check those rims size? They seems smaller to me than Techonodel speedlines... just an impression?

Could be. I saw Italy and assumed Cartograf, as Revell certainly has been supplying Cartograf markings with some of their kits. Some say Cartograf, and others just say Italy.

Either way, I will agree it is something Italians do better!

Hello all,

I saw the kit a few days ago in my favorite toys & modeling store.
but I'm waiting for the R8 kit from revell so didn't bought it (why would I have bought it I don't build and collect such LM cars... :screwy:)

nevertheless I took some pictures of the car in Paris during the last "mondioal de l'automobile".
there was an engine, too, shown out of the car, but I really doubt it's exactly the race engine.

If some one is interested in the pics, let me know...

Phil

PS: for me Zanchetti are the best decals ever, especially for 1/43 kits, provided with racing43 models.

All right Julian- let's see you put it together!

There´s still to much on my to-do list and i´m not going to start this, before finishing other (Yes, i really try to!:icon16: )

Even if I can't or don't build it right-a-way, I still want it right now.
In fact, I would say I feel more like I NEED it! :grinyes:

Exactly what i was thinking! :grinyes:

@Gio
You´re right, brake detail is not worth to be mentioned. Wheels have a diameter of 2cm.

Where did you purchase this?
Saw it in a toy-store today. If you want to buy it online, Nimpex and Moduni already have it in stock.

Are the decals for the CF just black?
Nicely made CF-decal. SMS wouldn´t make them better :grinno:

Part fitment is not the best. Will need alot of work to make a decent model. Engine lid was a bit warped, i already pushed it up a bit.

First, I like Revell's deep panel lines, just as long at they aren't too soft on the edges. It allows a little more flexibility in paint levels and you don't really have to do panel lines. Sometimes Tamiya's panel lines are too faint (e.g. rear bumper of SLK kit).

Second, I don't like Revell's decals. They do not hold up to Lacquer clear coats.

only one thing left.. build it build it build it... I always wanted a protoype, but never could spend the money on a resinkit, so I'm defenatly interrested in this car.

Hi,

thanks for the photos, Julian.

Well, body doesn´t look bad, but these wheels let me rise my eyebrows: Paint them brown and you can use them for a horse-drawn carriage  . The spokes should be much thinner and more defined, thicker at the hub, thinner at the end where the hit the rubber.

Further concerning the engine: yes, not bad, but the air-filters , that take a dominant space in the rear of the car, seem to be missing.

The decals are for the 2006 Le Mans cars. Does anyone know if Revell USA will be releasing an ALMS version, like with the Corvettes ?

Just ordered mine too.It looks quite good for the price. I wish a test version conversion decals would appear.it looks good in black.
I wonder how the engine will look when finished...
But they should try to get some injection points smaller...

Hi,

I wrote a mail to Revell Germany concerning the thick spokes and the missing air-filters. Here their answer:

"Sehr geehrter Herr Schneider,

here my free translation:

Because of technical reasons Revell is not able to make thinner spokes, otherwise they wouldn´t get out of the mold.

Air filters are not included, because when beginning the development of the kit no infos about them were available, but the engine is exact and the rest of the model is accurate.

There won´t be a 2007 issue (were new wheels and missing airfilters could be added).

Just to remember: 1,5 years ago with the Ferrari 612 they wanted to make a step to reach the level of Japanese kits.

To be exact, he wrote there won´t be a 2007 issue with corrected wheels and included airfilters, because those changes would have taken too much time to release it before 2008.
There´s still hope...:grinyes:

I didn't notice the wheels were different.really?
Checked mine yesterday.Floor is a bit warped, injection points big, nice decals but with excess, nice carbon pattern, nice wheels, ugly brakediscs, gap with the front and rear body part, fitment a bit hazardous but hey....18 euros...

Looks nice, saw a picture on Hlj. THanks for sharing the close up pictures. I'll be sure to get a few once I find some good deals. These 1/24 Lemans are not common in plastic, (especially the LMPs).
