Mine was getting ready for an ignition switch. It became hard to turn the key off completely. A bit hard to get the key out. A bit hard/not precise to turn the key.The switch became ultra sensitive. If it got touched..bumped..turned the tiniest bit the car would still run..just NO power to anything else.
I WAS just going to change the switch.
I What they hey..I had some powderred graphite lube in a tiny squirt tube kicking around.
I held the key slot open as best as I could..IN went the lube. A few times. I coated the key several times and did the in out..on/off/start several times
I did that last winter and has been perfect since.

I do a similar thing. I put a drop of light oil on the key and put it into the lock for ten minutes. I repeat this a couple of times, also for the exterior locks. I do this with any older car that I get.
