My daughters '94 Regal had a slight leak in the power steering pump at the bearing. I bought a new pump and installed it, I bled the system by jacking the front end of the car up and turning the wheel back and forth to both extremes. I topped off the resevoir with fluid and took it for a test drive. It seems to steer real nice but it is making a whine noise when turning the wheel at a very low speed or turning to either extreme. I have checked the fluid and it is still full. Does this system need to be bled more? Did I get a bad pump from the parts store?
TIA,
x

If all you had was a leak with the old power steering pump and the whining noise was not there before then the replacement power steering pump would be suspect. What brand was it?

Thanks for the response,
It is a Reman from Auto Zone. Not sure of the actual brand name. It may just have some air left in the system. I noticed the last time I took the filler cap off it made a little "pop" sound like it was letting air out. The fluid level doesn't seem to be going down at all though.

Well, I called AutoZone and told them about the loud PS pump and they gave me a different one to try. Sure enough, I had a bad one to begin with. All is quiet now.
