Questions on Repair Manual/K&N FIPK/Spark Plugs

I had a couple of different questions to ask that don't really relate to each other in the small realm but are all centered about my 3000GT. Any knowledge on any of these questions would be greatly appreciated.

1.) I have NGK Double Platinum Spark Plugs part #PFR6J-11 in my car as of the moment and i was wondering if anyone has experience with Iridium Spark plugs, such as the NGK Iridium Plugs part #IFR6E-11 or otherwise. Whether they actually give you better power at all or better fuel economy/mpg.

2.) I got my 3000GT about a month ago and I wanted to do some simple bolt-on mods to make my ride more my own, so what I was thinking of was doing something small at first and was thinking of a K&N FIPK system. My question is does anyone know of if these system are good and if they improve the mpg, the power and how loud and low they make the noise of the engine? Or if there are better systems for the price then the K&N I had stated about above. Also if anyone knows of what sorts of mods I should do first to my car.

3.) I want to buy a service/repair manual for my GT since I intend on trying to do a decent amount of the work myself, that, and I haven't found the Oil Filter yet, or at least from trying to just check it out from under the hood, I haven't gone below to check out if I can see it or not, so general items such as that. My question is does anyone know where to get a repair manual for a decent price for a 1998 3000GT SL, and if there are any good, reliable places to get the manual on CD as well.

Thanks for anyone's input!

ok, as far as plugs... Better spark, so maybe slightly better power, but w/ out performance wires(8.5mm) not too much.
Air filter... if you were to dyno your car w/ that k&n system on, you would prolly see a HP gain of 1-3 HP not a ton, but its a great place to start modding w/ a N/A. it does give the intake a much throatier sound. when u get on it you can hear it sucking air... but as far as overall volume.. its not gonna make it a ton louder...

2: the K&N is awesome. I have one and love it., BUT its extremely overpriced. A cheaper ebay intake will net you the same results. I would post the auction here b4 u buy though just so we make sure youre not getting screwed. Some intakes on ebay are designed wrong.

Thanks Jason_bet, if I could get a copy of that CD, that would be great. We'd have to figure out a way to send it over the net, or if you know or any other way, the knowledge the CD would bring me would be greatly appreciated.

And thanks for everyone's input on the mods to my car. What I'm basically trying to accomplish is doing little things to make the car more my own. And little things i want to do is make it look a little flashy under the hood, get a couple more horsepower here and there, and if possible, I'd like to get better fuel economy if anyone knows how to get that.

Oh, if anyone has ever heard of the Tornado Fuel Saver system that you put after your MAF sensor and before you throttle body, it seems like a load of bull to me. I had one in when I bought the car, and I took it out a few days later. To me it almost just looks like a butterfly value that isn't completely open, so that I would just think that it would rob the engine of it's power. Any thoughts to back this up at all?

And as for future mods, down the road that is.... I'm look at putting a navigation system in in place of my headunit radio set I have in there now. I've been looking at some Pioneer systems for GPS navigation, and they are looking quite nice, but pricey none the less, if anyone knows anything on that, as well as I'll eventually want to put adjustable cams on my engine so that I could tune for more torque to get better acceleration off the get go.

I'm an aspiring (and hopeful...) Mechanical Engineer as of the moment and will be going back to college in the fall, and I bought this car knowing that I would have a bunch of fun learning all that I could about cars and moving parts in general, because I want to be an Automotive Engineer someday. So if anyone has knowledge on anything I should do to the car to make it better in any way, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks again!

lol, if there was something that simple and cheap that actually worked, cars would come with them from the factory. With the millions of dollars automakers put into R&D to make engines efficient, i think they would have found that haha.

If his cd is like mine he can put in a RAR or ISO file then transfer via MSN/AOL or somthing of the nature... As far as a nav unit poineer is GREAT for there headunits and nav systems so they are worth the price...
