Dug up old project to finish: California Bugwkma7six 10-28-2002, 07:35 PM Hey guys. I dug up one of my projects thats older than any I've posted before. This one is about 4 years old. I wanted to to a California style bug when I saw this kit at a local Wal-Mart. Its a re-released item from Revell. I don't see too many around any more. They're crappy kits. I think they were originally released in the early eighties. I painted this in a custom mix of chrome silver , metallic blue, and a bit of yellow to get that frosty mint green color that you see. A blue pearl powder was also mixed in. The wheels and headlights are taken from a Fujimi Porsche Carrera kit. The model was lowered and bumpers were modified a bit to clean up the appearance. The wheels and some of the chrome parts were painted in Alclad chrome. Bare metal foil was used to do some interior trim pieces and the tailpipes are copper wrapped with BMF. I gotta finish this one now since I pulled it out. Might have to make new windows because the original ones don't fit too well. Let me what you guys think. Its a bit different from all the Japanese kits I've done lately. -Walter http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/641267CaliBug1.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/788004CaliBug2.jpg Here's a shot of the gauge panel: http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/397245CaliBug3.jpg Midnight Racer 10-28-2002, 08:11 PM Thats 1 amazing looking bug.Love the paint.I question does the rear engine hatch open?It looks like it does. tonioseven 10-28-2002, 11:51 PM That looks like another prize-winner to me!!  primera man 10-29-2002, 01:28 AM COOL  ....The colour looks very good on it.
