1985 735i - 156,000mi - Any good?SimpleSimon 10-28-2002, 06:28 PM I've got the opportunity to purchase a 1985 BMW 735i for $4500 CDN (about $2500 US). The car looks in VERY nice shape. Leather is good. Electronics seem fine. No rust. Has 215,000Kms on it (156,000miles). Just wondering, is there anything I should be looking for or anything I can expect with a car this old and with this many miles? Any information is appreciated!!!! Thanks! jeff '84 733i 02-21-2003, 11:33 AM HVAC controls and vacuum leaks are major problem. All can be fixed DIY but a PITA. Also common probls are instrument cluster and the transmission. The m30 engine is bulletproof, just keep changing the oil. m5freak 03-12-2003, 01:33 AM Just go for it!! I have one and it's one of the best BMW's I've ever seen. I know it's a bit too much to say that, but for me it was love at first sight. I had some ptoblems with the camshaft, and oil was leaking... but at the service I was told that it's not a car which goes 200 km/h on a highway for 1000 km. Maybe that's why I had problems with it. But it's a nice car and and the stability is good. I have 270.000 kms on it, and it still goes..... and goes.... Jonnyrandom 03-13-2003, 09:58 PM Yeah, these cars are great. The work is part of the fun to see how the Germans engineer things. Look for some front-end work with this car. That stuff wears out... cos3 03-17-2003, 08:46 AM bmw is the shit!you better purchase it! never choose any other, but the blue/n white propeller vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
