I have a 91 GMC 2-wheel drive Sierra with a 5-speed on the floor...hydraulic clutch. Something blew where the clutch pedal is flopping. It appears that I have an external slave cylinder? The fluid line connects to an external cylinder about 4" long that bolts to the bell housing. It looks like the entire unit may come off the bell housing without having to drop the tranny.

Question...is there a procedure for testing/replacing the slave cylinder and/or master cylinder?? It appears to be wet with fluid at the slave cylinder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stranded in PA.

If the slave is wet, it should either be rebuilt or replaced. I would replace it, drain the master of old fluid, refill with fresh and bleed the system.
