Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone can walk me through changing a fuel filter. A friend was telling me its really cheap (around 20 dollars for the filter from GMC), and takes under 15 minutes.
I bought the car used at 79,000KMS and would like to do it as preventative maintenace.

2002 Chevy Cavaler Z24
5 Spd, 2.4L - 103,000KMS

Thanks,

Lewis

The quick connect fitting is hell to get off unless you get this weird tool. But no worries, its cheap. I'm sure someone here knows the part number.

Open the fuse panel, find the fuel pump fuse. Pull it out. Start your car. Let it die.

Just get under the car, under the rear end, of course. Look for the filter, it's the only filter-lookin' thing back there. Wrap a rag around it (to catch fuel) and then disconnect on both ends (One quick-disconnect, one screw-type).

Install new filter. Put fuse back in. Don't be surprised if it takes quite a few extra cranks to get the motor going again, you've got to pressurize the lines again.
