I have a '97 eclipse and I might move to California, but i was wondering if the salty air would rust my car? How far away from the coast do you have to be so you dont get any salty air?
Thanks, Mike

Yea living at the beach will cause rusting. Its also not too nice on rubber boots/seals.

Your car will rust anywhere in the world, but some places more than others. It may ruster faster in Cali as compared to say Nebraska, but then if you lived in MN your car would desintrigate within a year because of all the salt they put on the roads in the winter.
In all reality, yes it causes rust, but if you wash it say once a week (or more) you won't have any problems
