1/12 Nissan Skyline R32Roca46 06-06-2007, 03:42 PM Hi everybody, a few weeks ago I received this awesome kit from Hong Kong and now I decided to show you the progress. I have to say that I don't have a lathe , yes I know I saw around here an awesome pieces machined but anyway this is another challenge , make pieces for that car in that scale without lathe. I'm ready to start this project I searched a lot on internet for reference pictures of the engine and I have already 137 pictures and also the owner's manual which indicates a lot of technical installations. Well let's go to talk about the car, first talk about the body, the body will not have any modifications, one of my objectives is make this car realistic and I'm not looking for futuristic shapes and shapes without proportion, just the shape of the original car. The paint will be... for more realism a Nissan paint that I will buy from Hiroboy.com (zero paints) and also I know the code I will use but let me show you the color once painted on the body. For the rims I thought to add a Rays / Volk style that I think I have to do myself with styrene... because I don't like the original rims, from here I want to tell you that I'm looking for a Tamiya's Super7 tyres or something like that tyres but it will be great to find tyres with important and actual manufacturers. Well to sum up I have to say that I will try to make this car with details and patience, but this project will be very slow because of my scale motorcycles, I only will make the car to put off my head possible problems or stress about that scale motorcycles but of course I will do both things. Here are the pics: http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr1.jpg 100% sure I will open the porter to show the fuel system. http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr2.jpg http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr3.jpg My first words when I saw the car: What a huge car!!! http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr4.jpg http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr5.jpg The body with a coat of surface primer. http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr6.jpg A little thing I made with styrene (not finished yet) http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr7.jpg Yes it is for the nitrous bottle http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr8.jpg http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr9.jpg I have to repaint the area behind the screws again with matt black and also paint other things. http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr10.jpg Stock piece http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr11.jpg http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr12.jpg Starting to give more realism (a lot of work to do here) http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr13.jpg http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr14.jpg That's all for now, I will try to think: Ok the engine is one kit and the car other then I will join both things and will appear the result. I think I will enjoy this kit it is how to make a real car. Thanks! Roca. Dying Fetus 06-07-2007, 05:57 PM Wow this looks like it will be a great thread to follow, I'm looking forward to seeing some progress! Great job on the scratch built bottle & holder! What kit is it? Hiroboy 06-07-2007, 06:42 PM Off to a great start :) I have a load of pics of my engine bay (R32 GTR) if you want I can burn a CD and let you have them, they are close ups just right for this build . PM me if you want it. Meanwhile some in my Gallery should help http://www.nissan-skyline.org/gallery/ white97ex 06-07-2007, 06:43 PM this is going to be great. I'm working on a Revell 1/12 Camaro and Mustang, I too do not have a lathe, so I'm working as much with styrene as possible cyberkid 06-07-2007, 07:12 PM subscribed! One of the kits that I dare not buy due to fear of not having the guts to start. Will be watching with great interest. CifeNet 06-08-2007, 01:10 AM This is very cool indeed! The size itself is going to be awesome when it is finished. I am very interested in the progress of this build. Thanks for sharing this, Roca46 06-08-2007, 06:13 AM Thank you mates, yesterday I was searching on Internet for a good tyres because the kit have a slick and I would like to put a radial tyres, but apart from this would be great to find some tyres with the brand on the side I saw that Super7 from Tamiya are Yokohama I don't know what brand are the tyres of the 1/12 Porshce Carrera from Tamiya but I think they would look ok for this build, and also I'm thinking on the rims but I think I will do them with styrene and a lot of patience (maybe just do one and then copy it to make the others in resin) I like the style of the Volk models so I think I will make some of them. Wow this looks like it will be a great thread to follow, I'm looking forward to seeing some progress! Great job on the scratch built bottle & holder! What kit is it? I would really like to get it!!! This kit is from Fujimi it is the Calsonic version. Off to a great start :) I have a load of pics of my engine bay (R32 GTR) if you want I can burn a CD and let you have them, they are close ups just right for this build . PM me if you want it. Meanwhile some in my Gallery should help http://www.nissan-skyline.org/gallery/ Thanks Steve it sounds good just tell me the price for the CD and I can pay it via paypal , I will sent to you a PM with my address. Roca PS: If someone have a nice and realistic tyres in 1/12 scale I would like to buy them. cyberkid 06-08-2007, 06:52 AM Roca could I ask you where you got the model and how much you paid for it? TKS, Steve Roca46 06-08-2007, 07:44 AM Roca could I ask you where you got the model and how much you paid for it? TKS, Steve Yep I bought the car on www.ebay.com the seller is tomchina and I paid US $99.99 + US $56.00 to Spain. There are a couple of Nissans but I think mine was the only one with the lower price. Bye! Roca. Roca46 06-12-2007, 08:07 AM Hi friends, Just wanted to tell you that I have an idea, what do you think If I make a copy in transparent resin of the front fender of the engine (which is hiding the two pulleys) I think it would be a great detail showing the two coloured pulleys with the strap. Also another question.. this is maybe a help needed , anyone has a set of 4 tyres (realistic and radials) for this car?? I searched a lot on ebay and internet also I checked for RC cars but I can't find any tyre with a real brand on the side and well I know that Tamiya 1/12 kits uses a real brand for their tyres. For the rims "no problem" I will try to make them in styrene so I will keep searching for a good tyres. Thank you! I hope to post pictures soon. Roca. Roca PS: Anyone found good tyres? robrex 06-15-2007, 06:16 PM I'm following this too! Nice to see you building a car Roca! Roca46 06-16-2007, 05:25 AM Hey thank's Rob, One friend told me that he found a good tyres on ebay so I think I will buy them anyhow I think they are a little big ( they are 1/10 scale) so I will cut a segment of the tyre and then glue it again with the following segment and I will try to hide the cut, also a great idea for the brand on the side , I will try to paint with a mask of the real brand and then I will paint the name in matt black maybe it will be ok. Also I will start soon with the rims Bye!! Roca. Roca46 06-16-2007, 09:07 AM Good news, the tyres are coming and now I will start with the rims. Bye! SolidSnake2634 06-25-2007, 10:59 PM where'd you order the paint from and how? O_O Roca46 06-27-2007, 03:25 AM where'd you order the paint from and how? O_O From www.hiroboy.com they are Zero Paints Roca. Roca46 06-30-2007, 11:03 AM Hi mates, here are new pictures of the porter I think it will be hard to place it correctly again to the car so I hope to show you more pictures. Also I started with the rim (no worry it seems a disaster but it was a paper with the design over the styrene sheet this is the wheel volk te37 used for reference) think that the rim will be polished also I will add a circle to give to the arms the support and I have to make the center area completely new. http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr20.jpg http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr21.jpg http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr22.jpg http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr23.jpg http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr24.jpg http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr25.jpg http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr26.jpg http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/SkylineR32/skyr27.jpg I hope to put more this weekend.
