Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I saw this forum and figured this is just what I needed.

Here's the problem: My 99 Grnd Cherokee Lrdo's AC seems to not be functioning efficiently. I have the dial not the automatic control. It has the correct amount of freon and I have had it tested for leaks and was told there wasn't any. I have done some research and saw ppl having problems with the bent door (?) behind the glove box getting stuck. I checked last night and watched the the door seemed to be operating properly.

Symptoms: I have a thermometer in the vents and on a hot or even warm day the middle 2 vents will blow around 62-65 degrees. The passenger side vents blow around 78 - 80 degrees. If the car is in the shade or it is around 75 degrees outside the AC seems to work fine, blowing around 42 degrees, but if it is parked in the sun it cannot blow below 62 degrees, even if it's not circulating. Furthermore, the AC compressor seems to kick on and off every couple of seconds (the freon level is correct) and I'm not sure if this frequency is normal.

It's about to start getting into the 100's here in Texas and any help anyone can give would be a blessing. Thanks.

If the compressor is cycling, then the low side cut-off switch is seeing a pressure < 30 PSI on the low side. I curious, how do you know it is fully charged?

Well I basically just used the gauge that came with the Freon. If anything, there may be too much Freon. I am not too familiar with AC systems but last night I tried something just for fun. I removed the upper and lower switch and completed the circuit using a paper clip. On the upper when I stuck it in the compressor stayed on but the AC temp. went up. When I removed the lower switch the compressor didn't cycle on and when I stuck the paper clip in in acted the same as if it was plugged in (cycling on and off repeatedly).

One more note: When I turn my AC on full blast it blows a few degrees warmer than if it were on one of the lower settings.
