I have a 97 grand cherokee limited 5.2 I changed the trans filter,rear brakes.rear u-joint and now have a check engine light.I put this thing in drive and its like it has no power bogging down kind of like the brakes are all stuck on when you take off but they are not.I also took the front drive shaft off a few months ago to help on fuel milage but it has been running fine until this last weekend when I did all this work.It almost seems like I am starting off in 3rd gear with the power .Once I get going it seems like normal driving.Torque convertor maybe?Is there any way to check the codes on this without taking it somewhere because I have a new family and cant afford it right now!PLease help if you can.Thanks,Born

What kind of fluid did you use in the trans? Chrysler products use ATF+.

Not sure what parts stores you have around, but AutoZone will pull codes for you for free.

I used the ATF PLUS 4 even though it says 7176.Well now the thing seems to be stuck in 1st?At first it just took off slow like no power or brakes stuck on until i got moving then it seemed fine.I replaced the trans 8000 miles ago with a used one.Any Ideas all of you tranny techs?Thanks Hope you can help!!Im broke and need my Jeep for my new job!Born
