This is my first ticket. I was doin 105 in a 55... I thought i was doin 85 in a 70. My mistake. Ive been told there are some good lawyers, or lawyer companies or firms or whatever that can help me get my ticket and points dropped so my insurance wont go up. I live in Florida. Orlando area. Please, I need help... any ideas are accepted and wanted and very appreciated.

105 in a 55?

sorry dude, i don't think even the best lawyer could help you much.

you said you thought you were doing 85 in a 70. maybe bring up speed signs if there weren't any in the area. or if you speedo wasn't calibrated.

except with the speedo, they may say that's your fault.

right.
if i were the judge i'd fine you for thinking i was stupid.
if you can't tell that at 105 you were much faster than everything else on the road then you shouldn't be driving.
miscalibrated speedo might help in close calls but 105 in 55?

come to think of it, the speedo probably won't help you out.

over here you're allowed to be 10% over the limit because speedos are often up to10% out.

Your only hope is to plead guilty with explanation, you had a transmission change and the gear in the tailshaft housing was off, it has since then been fixed and recalibrated, bring a receipt (at least have it recalibrated for real). Wear a suit, get a haircut, be polite and let the lawyer do 99.99% of the talking. Not knowing what the points system is like in Fla, you will probably get it reduced but not thrown out.

Have to agree with the points above.....50 miles per hour over will be next to impossible to explain away, no matter how good your lawyer is. The point here, is that even IF you were doing only 85 in a 70, you still were intentionally 15 over so that won't work.

Consider:
What are the laws in FL? Will you lose your license if convicted? A lawyer might help you to keep your license for limited purpose, but I sincerely doubt you will get out of this ticket. Hel-lo higher premiums!

You probably want to slow it down and take it easy -- I recall an earlier post of yours and trouble with the law. THAT is the best advice I can give you here.

I took a quick look at the Florida DMV site, pretty interesting. Looks like your ticket is a 4-pointer. Anything less than 15 over the limit is 3 points, 16 and up is 4 points. Not too shabby I say.

Their license suspension policy is based on a point-month basis. 12 in 12 months is a 30 day suspension, 18 in 18 months is 3 months and so on.

In NY, if you get 3 speeding tickets in 18 months, goodbye license for a while. For points alone, 11 in 18 months gets you a suspension. If you have any priors, you should talk to a lawyer who specializes in traffic cases. They usually have a set fee that is not that bad.
