MY FRIEND AND I ARE GOING!!!!...and we decided this YESTERDAY!!!! So I'm going to both North American GPs, hoping that this isn't the last year for them. That would really suck and I would hate Bernie Ecclestone. Our tracks are amazing!!! So yeah we decided to go, before we got incredibly intoxicated, and confirmed it today. We're going to be going in my truck, American style. My parents said that I should only need my real birth certificate and no passport. Can someone confirm this? Also the only tickets left are race day General Admission, so i have no idea where we'd sit, and while I sorta care, I'M GOING TO 2 FORMULA ONE RACES FOR 2 WEEKS!!!!!
This is also supposed to be an interactive thread, so sorry for editing it late. What top 5 do you see in qualifying? Which drivers or teams have done well in the past in Canada? Do you think they can pull it off again?

Long story short, the bus company screwed us over. They said they couldn't guarantee us a seat on the bus to Montreal (100 roundtrip) because the bus was starting in NYC, Not Albany, and the best part...you're gonna love this, if the bus was full and we did buy tickets, we'd get NO REFUND AT ALL. So I'm watching the Canada GP on TV today instead of being there. But to ignore the buzzkill, the Qualifying lineup is awesome isn't it? The rookie has the Pole!!!
...I'm starting to feel sorry for Coulthard. 14th place.

Quite an eventful race. Two black flags and 4 safety cars. Needless to say, that made Monaco look boring. I'm looking forward to seeing how Sato does next weekend. I guess it's safe to say Kubica won't be racing though.

Lots of emotions during the race! really proud of Sato. Hope Kubica will be ok soon.

My friend and I watched the race at a sports bar and we were saying, I can't believe we missed that crash...then again might not have been so safe to stand on the grass too.

I'm really upset with Fox's presentation of F1. Up to Monaco, Speed covered the races and they had the pre-race show and showed about half as many commercials as Fox crams in. Maybe I'll write a letter :grinno:

Yeah I really hated those commercials too, I missed half the race before I started watching, then with the commercials...I missed 3/4 of the race. WTF.
Get Well Soon Kubica!!

That's one of the most bizarre races that I have ever watched..... Superb performance by the rookie, AGAIN.
Get well soon Kubica and Ferrari needs to bounce back!
I was planning to go the Indiana to watch the race, but I have to postpone it due to my work schedule. Sigh.... :shakehead
Maybe next year

wah wah wee wah
Thank god I didn't post predictions because they would have been completely wrong.
I predict that this will go down as the best (or at least most entertaining) race of this season. Way more watchable then any race so far.
First of all, I would like to say congrats to Lewis Hamilton. I havn't been very big on him so far, but he did exactly what he needed to do to win this race. 2nd youngest driver to win a race behind Alonso, and only after 6 races. Very impressive. That said, he seemed to have a ton of luck on his side. His pit strategy had him pitting pretty early, which would have hurt him without the safety cars, but ended up dropping his main rivals (notably the Ferraris) in the back of the pack. He also managed to keep out of all the debris caused by all of the crashes, which appeared to hinder Kimi. Alonso had a mysteriously bad race (slippery track?), and Massa got black flagged. Seeing as Alonso and the Ferraris are the only cars that could really compete with him, the race was handed to him. I also want to compliment his ability to stay cool during the race. It seemed that simply finishing was quite a feat as 10 cars didn't finish. I would really like to see if he can win races when the 3 other cars that should be up there are driving as they should be.
Ferrari needs consistency. Kimi is driving terribly and Massa is irratic. They really are missing the great Schu. Kimi is the most overpaid driver in F1.
BMW-Sauber must be feeling major mixed feelings from the race. On the one hand, Heidfeld (alongside Wurz) was the first non McRrari driver to podium this season, which should be praised. Heidfeld is now only 1 point behind Kimi in the standings and BMW has a comfortable 17 point lead over Renault. BMW is definitely the next up-and-coming team. On the other hand, Kubica had a horrific crash. Absolutely terrifying to watch. It sounds like he only recieved a broken leg, which will probably put him out for much of the season. This means that Sebastian Vettel, another young BMW wonderboy should get the seat. He could end up suprising many just like Kubica did last year.
More to come...

I agree that Hamilton was lucky to come in to the pit just right before the safety car got into the track. But his performance has been outstanding so far.
Something wrong with Alonso on that race, I mean he made the same mistake at the same spot (turn 1, if I am not mistaken). It just didn't look like him at all.
How about when Takuma Sato passed Alsonso.. :grinyes: I love it when he did that.
I read that Kimi gets paid about $50m and Massa only gets about $10m. (see link below)

Kimi needs to prove that he can do better. Can't wait for USGP.

Alright, moving down the grid, it looked like Wurz and Williams might have had their year-making race. Up to Canada, Williams had been locked in a struggle with Red Bull, Renault, Toyota, and even Aguri for whatever points Ferrari, McLaren, and BMW-Sauber didn't swallow up. Also all year, it looked like Rosberg was the man at Williams. Canada completely shook that up. Wurz had an outstanding race (again, helped by the SC) going from 19th to 3rd in a car that hasn't done better then 6th all year. Now not only is Wurz leading Rosberg, but Williams has a substantial (7 points is alot in midfield) lead over Toyota and Red Bull, and could even take a shot at Renault. Simply a great race for Wurz and Williams.
Heikki had a bit of a breakout race as well. It must be tough being outshown so much by Hamilton, but really seems to be coming to form. His first few races wern't very good, but now hes only 5 points off of Fisichella and Renault is safely in 4th place. 22nd to 4th is an amazing result.
Again, Honda needs some new leadership and some new engineers badly. Broken gearbox on Button and an absolutely terrible strategy for Rubens. Both are very good drivers on an undeserving team.
But the man of the race, for me at least, wasn't Wurz, wasn't Heikki, and wasn't even Hamilton, but Takuma Sato. This is a guy that people have been making fun of for years on a team that the announcers used to refer to as "The Super Best Friends" (a South Park reference) that didn't score a single point all last year. Earlier in the year, Sato said that Super Aguri's only goal for the year was to score a single point. Aguri scored their first point earlier in the year, and managed an outstanding 6th place today, but most impressive of all, Takuma Sato managed to pass two time world champion Fernando Alonso with about 3 laps to go. Hamilton, Wurz, and Heikki all had a fair amount of luck on their side with safety cars, dnfs, and pit strategy, but there was nothing lucky about passing one of the best drivers in the world in a car as wimpy as the Super Aguri. That was easily the pass of the year (at least so far). Was anyone else cheering at the TV when Sato passed Alonso?
