00 Bonneville SE TiresDeus Ex Verra 06-02-2007, 03:45 PM So, its about time I get a new set of tires for the good ol' Bonneville. Just acquired it not to long ago and so far seems like a great car. I'm looking to do some power upgrades, get it into the 300 range as a project car. So, I was thinking, Tires: Should they be wider? I only have experience with the well worn tires and it doesn't seem to hard to break them loose (no surprise there), but what about a quality fresh set? I'm aware the car is pretty heavy, but with ~320 horse think it could use some wider ones? Even if the answer is no, how would you go about putting wider tires on the car? Would I have to get a new wheel (provided the new tires were also R16's)? They have 225/60R16's now, what if I wanted to slap on some wider tires? Would I have to upgrade the wheel or what? Thanks. EDIT--- I've recently purchased a 1994 BMW 740i (E32), and have decided to invest my tuning attention on it. However, I am still wondering if I would need new wheels along with tires if all I did was widen them (225 to 245 or higher, maintaining the 16" diameter). vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
