Do your safety belt covers wear out?

The long plastic seat belt cover, finished in leatherette has worn worn very badly on both the driver and passenger sides. When entering or exiting they seem to be placed for maximum rubbing against people coming or going.

Is this the same for everybody or only in my car?:banghead:
