39 Chevy Sedan Delivery BombaAndy Jones 05-31-2007, 04:23 PM Been staring at my pile of kits try to decide what to do next and as I've always liked the older style lows thought I'd make a start on this one. It's the old Revell kit - fairly rudimentary in places - no interior door panels or inner fenders. The rims are from Pegasus with Hoppin Hydros centre caps & spinners. I undecided at the moment whether to build it kerbside or not.I'll post more progress as I make it. http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/39chevy.jpg Thanks for looking Andy tonioseven 05-31-2007, 11:32 PM With the right colors, this will decimate all!!:sunglasse modeltech 06-01-2007, 05:03 PM very cool Andy!! i cant wait to see how you transform this one!! http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/ Andy Jones 06-02-2007, 08:21 AM I've decided to add the straight 6 engine from the Galaxie 46-48 Chevy kit. I've added the cross members from the Galaxie kit to the Revell frame to ensure good location -I've also added the inner fenders (suitably cut down) from the Galaxie kit as they're not included in the Revell one. I've removed the moulded in door handles and drilled a hole ready to accept the Galaxie ones. http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/39chevy1.jpg Thanks for looking. Andy NOSFERATTU 06-02-2007, 11:12 AM Very nice Andy. Take it easy. slk320 06-02-2007, 12:14 PM Those Galaxie kits are very nice and have lots of detail. Their engines build up good too! This should be very nice when finished. Are you going to paint it a nice candy color? Perhaps lime green candy HOK? Andy Jones 06-10-2007, 11:59 AM Took adavantage of the good weather over here to spray the basecoat which is Citroen Wicked Red Metallic - I'll let it cure for a couple of days before clearcoating. Just to give you an idea of the colour :- http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/39chevy2.jpg Thanks for looking Andy white97ex 06-10-2007, 01:06 PM this is going to be great! Can't wait to see more Andy Jones 06-13-2007, 07:37 AM Just a quick update on the paint - spent some time polishing the clear with various grades of Micro-Mesh followed by Tamiya fine & finish polishing compound. http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/39chevy3.jpg http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/39chevy4.jpg Excuse the polishing compound in the panel lines. Hope to make some progress on the engine soon. Thanks for looking Andy tigeraid 06-13-2007, 12:42 PM Certainly not my style, but I appreciate the effort in the build--the paint looks great! Andy Jones 06-14-2007, 10:43 AM Just a couple of pics of the completed engine from the Galaxie kit - I've not added a great deal except ignition leads & fuel line. I had to reduce the height of the airfilter as it fouled the hood. http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/39chevy5.jpg http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/39chevy6.jpg Thanks for looking Andy blubaja 06-14-2007, 11:08 AM Engine and paint look great so far Andy! Enzoenvy1 06-14-2007, 11:56 AM I saw this model yesterday in the store and thought that it was an older kit, but I guess it is still made. I immediately thought of yours,, lol. Looks great-very classy to me. white_R34 06-16-2007, 01:23 AM love your engine work keep it up man! Andy Jones 06-23-2007, 04:22 PM Just a quick update - I've built up the chassis and installed the rims & engine -as usual I haven't done any chassis detailing as it won't be seen. http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/39chevy7.jpg As the kit doesn't include any interior door panels I've adapted the Galaxie kit interior panels to fit and I'll use the Galaxie Bench seat as the Revell kit comes with some nasty 70's high back seats. http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/39chevy8.jpg A couple of shots of a dry run with everything put together - the sunvisor is just made from plastic card and needs a bit more work. http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/39chevy9.jpg http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/39chevy10.jpg Thanks for looking Andy Uninen 06-24-2007, 06:03 AM Say, Andy! Could You please stop modelling? You really make everyone else look bad (just kidding). I had to collect my jaw from the floor when I saw that engine. And nice paint job... again! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
