Wind noise & water leak - 2 Ft windows of SebringDarrylHammond 05-31-2007, 03:54 PM Hi, I've had a '96 Sebring convertible for years and love it. Lately the 2 front windows have started to leak wind and water. First at the car wash, then at highway speed and now all time time when it rains (even standing still). It is a slow drip on the forearm/leg but irritating none-the-less. The wind noise is more of a whistle at 50 + mph. I've taken off the door panels to adjust the windows inwards so as to tighen the seal but both are already maxed out. The gaskets are fine, no cracks, undue wear etc. Both are leaking at the overlap near the front post. Any ideas? Cheers PS Every time i go to the dealers it costs me $500-$1000 so please don't bother with that bit of advice. PSS I just had the problem with clogged drain slots causing a leak into the rear floor board. Thanks for the cleaning tip/enlarging. twistedtech 06-08-2007, 09:33 PM I would say you have 2 choices here. The first being is to check your door pins. Open the door about 6-8 inches and grab the bottom corner and lift up and down. If you have a bunch of play ( up/down) you need pins. If that is tight you need new weatherstrip. Short, sweet and ugly. DarrylHammond 06-12-2007, 08:38 AM Hi there, thanks for the reply. I had the hinges looked at last winter. They had a bad creak to them when you opened the door. I'll double check though to see if there is play there. The stripping leaks exactly the 2 pieces overlap and I assum its because there isn't enough pressure from the window. What do you think about taking off the door panel and using a remmel to the widen hole that adjusts the window. This will increase the tilt so as to tighten the seal. Thoughts? '00 Sebring vert 06-16-2007, 08:13 PM There should be an adjustment at the first top rail joint located above the seat back. Open the top until the rails part and look for a knurled screw head. Turn it counterclockwise to extend it. This will tighten the rail at the window. Try this in half turn steps until the leaks stop. Good luck! DarrylHammond 06-20-2007, 10:18 AM Brilliant. I found the screws and adjusted as per directions. Just waiting for the rain! Thanks much '00 Sebring vert 06-20-2007, 10:36 PM You are most welcome. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
